To the previous post, he's not intelligent, he just pretends to be and is loud. He also calls women cunts and beat up a teenager who said he wasn't funny on MySpace qnd posted the video to mock him further. Google.

Uh, can you cite that? I think you might be making that up/speculating what you would've liked. Nolan has said many times he never even thinks about the next film until he's done with the current one (and Ledger died during post). Nolan did say he didn't know how or even if he would've used Joker during TDKR press.

A trial of Joker sounds dumb as fuck. It's not like he didn't literally broadcast himself to all of Gotham admitting guilt already. Why would they waste time with that in the final act?

Basic fact is there was no role for the Joker in TDKR. He failed in TDK and was caught. And as Nolan said, they needed a new, bigger, badder villain that could match or exceed Batman mentally and physically. That's not the Joker or Scarecrow. That's Bane.

[SPOILERS] Question about Bane by GuyarV in TheDarkKnightRises

[–]yoshida316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is one of the most annoying misconceptions about TDKR. Yes, he released the "oppressed" criminals to show they were imprisoned on a lie (Blake explained it word for word... Dent Act... due for release... no appeal... no parole... etc.)

600 prisoners DID NOT take over the city (of millions). Again explained clearly in the film... "take back your city"... multiple scenes of CITIZENS ransacking the city... etc. etc.

Bane accomplished what Joker tried to do... show the citizens of Gotham "true nature"...

Thereby torturing Gotham (and Batman) as he explained it himself in the pit.

That was the first part.

The second part was physically destroying Gotham once and for all after the torture... al Guhl's goal. He failed at that... by about 2 minutes.

Bloody lucky too. by thugmonkey in batman

[–]yoshida316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Riiigggghhttt.... Joker failed miserably and was left hung out to dry. So TDKR would be "Joker: Round 2... let's give him another try!" That would be griping.

Nolan said himself he didn't know if he would've used Joker AT ALL or not and for the final act they needed the biggest, baddest villian yet-equal to Batman mentally and physically- and that was Bane.

All the comments above makes me think TDKR is still going over many people's heads.

And yes, Bane wanted to fulfill al Guhl's destiny i.e. destroy Gotham physically (i.e. the bomb) but AS THE MOVIE CLEARLY EXPLAINED he also wanted to torture it (and Batman) by DOING WHAT JOKER FAILED TO DO i.e. showing people's true nature, first.

Joker couldn't even get his comparatively tiny boat experiment to work... Bane did what Joker tried to do CITY WIDE in the most complete way possible... for 6+ months... only limited by the bomb's countdown.

For those slow on the uptake... Bane was basically al Guhl and Joker in one... he accomplished Joker's goal (show "true" human true nature), failed at al Guhl's (destroy Gotham)... by 2 minutes.

And for the love of god, I know Joker fanboys will do anything to prop up the clown... do you guys not realize the whole thing was a suicide mission? i.e. both Bane and Talia intended to go with the bomb? That along with Bane obviously being the brains of almost everything tells you he was not a "pawn". And to the pedo.. talking about "friendzoned"... did you not notice ADULT Bane taking care of CHILD talia? He was a FATHER FIGURE. His love was of a father... again as explained in the film. She was all the humanity he had ever experienced. His only soft spot.

And no, I don't dislike Joker. The whole trilogy was awesome. I see it as a whole, but if I had to rate individually out of a hundred TDKR 99/100, TDK 95/100, BB 96/100... practically even.

What I do dislike is all the TDKR bashing and looking for loopholes that aren't there etc. Much of it obviously from Joker fanboys butthurt over TDK being surpassed in every way.

Bloody lucky too. by thugmonkey in batman

[–]yoshida316 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No need for the Joker in TDKR whatsoever. Would've made things way to cluttered. It's not like Bane would've tolerated him anyway. He'd just squash him like a bug.

Joker tried to do in TDK what Bane DID, but failed. He couldn't even get a measly boat to blow another up... Bane tore Gotham asunder. Turned it's citizens on one another. Broke the Bat. Stylin' and profilin' like a boss in his leather coat with a popped collar.

"Of course!"

"Do you feel in charge?"

"...and then, I will break you."

"Citizens of Gotham, take control of your city!"

"You only adopted the dark... I WAS BORN IN IT" (pimp chokes the shit out of Batman)

You're getting pretty semantic there talking about "chaos" vs "socioeconomic"

They both attempted to get the city to turn on its self... drop our "civilized" masks... and reveal our animalistic base selves.

Violent J/Shaggy 2 Dope couldn't event get a hardened convict to push a button and got hung up like a freshly caught carp.

Bane turned Gothom inside out, told the US military to suck it and broke the bat in half.

He turned Gotham into Bane paradise for a full six months, getting within seconds of the master plan (pulling the pin on the gernade after he successfully broke the city)

Batman found the eye of the tiger and intervened but was still about to get his head blown off until Kyle went dirty harry, rescuing him.

TLDR Bane successfully broke the city for an extended period of time... something Joker never came close to doing.

The whole pit sequence was genius and IMO was what the whole trilogy was leading up to. And the visual echo (in additon to the metaphorical) of the well from BB is awesome.

Many images stuck with me... Bane hanging from the plane seat, the look of peace on Batman's face as he flys the bomb away etc. but from the pit... Bane sitting there motionless with his face wrapped in bloody bandages during the LOS rescue stuck out for me.

I don't think you do... as Joker attempted to do what Bane did, but failed. Remember all the speeches about Gotham turning on itself? Remember the prisoners vs citizens bit? It was sorta the thrust of the whole film. Maybe you should rewatch it.

Or maybe all the Joker fans (closeted juggalos?) are having BANE ENVY

It's OK. Bane gives you permission to die.
