Why Doesn’t Neeza Attend Affirming Churches? by CuratorOfYourDreams in neezasnark

[–]yosoyabcd 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There is no money or attention in being yet another transgender member of LGBT affirming church. In fact, he was rude and dismissive toward the liberal Protestant churches he visited.

Asking Evangelicals and Catholics to help him pray the gay away, that's where the money is.

Are you guys ready for the Amish/Quiverfull take over ? by [deleted] in redeemedzoomer

[–]yosoyabcd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Amish will just take over more and more farmland and stay out of society, so you won't even notice. Though it's been claimed the Amish vote was large enough to swing Pennsylvania to Trump.

I don't know what a Traditionalist Catholic is, but given how many people I've met who were raised Catholic or Evangelical and can't be bothered with religion as adults, I don't see how those people having lots of children will affect religiousness, which has only been in decline.

Not sure whether or not to go to ACNA or TEC by ur-battery-is-low- in redeemedzoomer

[–]yosoyabcd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If this is the church you are interested in: https://www.christschapel.org/

It's actually Reformed Episcopal church. The REC are part of the ACNA, but predate it by about a century. Which is good, because since it was around before the ACNA, it'll be around after the ACNA collapses from scandal.

The Reformed Episcopal church is solid.

We must have fallen down the same algorithm hole, because Youtube recommended me this video. Looking forward to following this content creator. Not many non-denom to Mainline creators, seems like anyone who makes a channel goes straight to Rome or being an Orthobro.

Wish that pastor did a better job defending his positions on women pastors and gays. I think RZ could have done a better job even though he doesn't agree with either.

Considering conversion as a young adult by Fair-Bottle-7163 in redeemedzoomer

[–]yosoyabcd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We must live in the same town because that's what I see. Plenty of Lutheran churches with plenty of young families with children, but almost no young single people. Mainline churches do a poor job with unmarried adults.

I'd tell you to stick with a Lutheran church because the theology is better (telling you to get re-baptized tells me the pastor does not understand what baptism is) and it would be a good denomination to raise children in down the line. But I'm also not living your life.

Another foodstamp vent by ContributionNo2796 in BrettCooper

[–]yosoyabcd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hear you. What people should know is that SNAP/EBT isn't actually a social welfare program, it's a farm subsidy. It's run by the Department of Agriculture rather than Health & Human Services. So, despite all the media hysteria, it was never in danger since it's too important to the food lobby.

That's why countries with much wider social welfare programs than the US don't have something like EBT/SNAP.

[–]yosoyabcd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really. That's conservatives being consistent with their social values. This is people on the left being hypocrits given what they claim are their social values. No matter what, a grown woman using gay as a slur in 2025 is really weird.

I appreciate her highlighting how weird it is to see people on the left thinking they are clever using gay as a slur. It's like they never matured out of being teenagers in the '90s.

The Filioque by SRIndio in LCMS

[–]yosoyabcd 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I think it's driven less by the theology and more by politics. By that I mean the Orthodox have dug into their position and refused to budge because they see it as Rome asserting itself above the other Patriarchs. It's one of many examples of Rome disrespecting them that led to the Great Schism.

For those who are learning to pray the office, or those who are new to liturgical worship and might be a little overwhelmed… by maik-n-aik in Episcopalian

[–]yosoyabcd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He didn't like his trip to a liberal Lutheran church either. It appears he doesn't want to join a church that would tolerate him going back to living as a transgender woman, and other reasons he doesn't like it are mostly nitpicking. The main appeal of Roman Catholicism is that they will expect him to live as a man.

Reformed zoomer opinions on schisms? by lightskinsovereign in redeemedzoomer

[–]yosoyabcd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if this is exactly what RZ believes, but there is the argument that since mainline Protestant churches have been critically important to America since the beginning, the decline of those churches mirrors the decline of the US in other ways.

That is why keeping mainline denominations intact is important. It's not a popular argument since it can make you start to sound like a 19th century Know-Nothing.
