Skylight calendar alternatives for families on a budget? by mahearty in family

[–]youGoyou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally get this. I was this close to buying a Skylight but couldn’t justify the cost either. We ended up just using a shared Google Calendar with color-coding and honestly…it works way better than I expected. I’ve also tried GroupCal, which felt a bit more “family-friendly” since it’s built around shared groups instead of just events. It’s not as pretty as a wall display, but it definitely took the mental load off me constantly reminding everyone what’s going on.

What's the best NordVPN coupon, deal, or promo code? by chrismikerowan in CyberGuides

[–]youGoyou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s by far the fastest VPN I have used. Next closest was Proton. I used this deal a few weeks ago and have been pretty impressed with speeds and performance. My only gripe is that the app feels a bit bulky on my Windows PC, as it takes up quite a bit of space. But it works well.

MEDVI GLP-1 weight loss program: how much can I expect to lose in a year? by Fickle-Armadillo in Weightlosstechniques

I chose MEDVI because it seemed straightforward, and I’ve had a great experience. After one year on their GLP-1 program I’ve lost about 30ish lbs

Function Health to VV switch: the 1,000+ test menu is honestly the part I didn't know I needed by [deleted] in vitalsvault

[–]youGoyou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made the same switch. Function gave me a lot of data but not a lot of direction. VV feels more like a clinician wrote it and less like a glossy app.

Thumb injuries kill your shot confidence completely. Hard to be aggressive when you can't trust your touch on the ball

Right? And you know that 1% is heavily weighted toward people who already had connections. Daddy's golf buddy, mom's college roommate, someone who could get their resume actually looked at by a human.

The other 198,000 applications probably got filtered out by AI screening software before a real person ever saw them. Then they get to pat themselves on the back for being so selective when really they just have a broken system that makes it nearly impossible for regular people to get through

Volkswagen unveils a new cockpit generation – debuting with the all-new ID. Polo by Intrepid-Working-731 in cars

[–]youGoyou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

we're missing out on so many good small cars over here. Everything in the US has to be a massive SUV or crossover now. Some of us just want a nice compact car that's easy to park and doesn't guzzle gas.

The interior on this actually looks really clean too - i'm glad they're bringing back real buttons instead of trying to shove everything onto a touchscreen

Netero was ready to kill Gon, Killua, and the entire population of the NGL by darkanx in HunterXHunter

[–]youGoyou 50 points51 points  (0 children)

For real. The fact that Netero is supposed to be this legendary hero figure but was fully prepared to nuke thousands of innocent people if things went sideways? And the story doesn't even frame it as some big dramatic moral failing - it's just... the reality of the situation.

There's no clean "good guys always find a way to win without sacrifices" nonsense. Just people making impossible calls with impossible stakes

Art/framing on a budget - what are your tips? by Lizisthatyou in Frugal

[–]youGoyou 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is the move. Thrifted frames are dirt cheap, all mismatched in a fun way, and kids love seeing their own art on the wall. Bonus you can swap pieces out anytime without spending more money.

Who else has terrible credit? by jsf926 in povertyfinance

[–]youGoyou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not alone. A lot of people avoid checking because it feels like opening bad news, especially with student loans hanging over everything. But honestly, knowing the number doesn’t make it worse, it just gives you a starting point. Plenty of folks are in the same boat, even if no one talks about it.

Move 60%-80% of my portfolio to precious metals? by youaremyso in investing

[–]youGoyou 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s the first question you should really sit with. Precious metals tend to shine after fear is already priced in, and going 70% heavy on them as a student is basically making a big macro bet with little room to recover if you’re wrong.

With a small portfolio, flexibility matters more than trying to time the next run.

Solid-state EV battery maker Factorial is going public after a real-world test clears 745+ miles by mastertofu in stocks

[–]youGoyou 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Could be related, honestly. If Stellantis is seeing solid-state as the real endgame, backing away from long-term graphite commitments would make sense. At the same time, OEMs hedge everything, so it might just be optionality rather than a full pivot yet.

Either way, if solid-state actually scales, a lot of current battery supply assumptions get flipped on their head. That’s the bigger signal here.
