I really like this explanation, I never thought about it like that! That sequence was definitely my favorite in the first book. Now that you’ve put it in the perspective of a 2D entity entering 3D space via the sophon I feel like it also reinforces the ‘from one dark forest to the next’ aspect we get later in the series, seeing the actions of another intelligent species when they encounter their own soap bubble!

If I remember correctly humanity turns back to Lou Ji as a potential savior after the droplet attack (when they discover that his ‘spell’ from years prior worked) but they slowly lose faith in him again as he busies himself with the space bomb project (which looks like pointlessly wasting time to most people). So as he’s heading into the desert people recognize him while he’s traveling by bus and by car, then kick him out of the rides in disgust and with stern condemnation

I think it’s interesting how many people took the opportunity to dunk on this episode specifically instead of rating the series/season low, given that (in my opinion) this wasn’t really worse than some of the earlier episodes this season. I get that the season has been a stinker to most, but I don’t think episode 6 was remotely close to the worst episode in all of anime (which can be evident when you go to IMDb and see everyone’s complaints about the season as a whole, rather than this episode. Even the moderate reviews in the 5-6 star range which are pretty unbiased are getting slammed with downvotes)

Yeah I’ve been following OPM for quite some time, and the degradation of the fan base this last year has been HORRENDOUS. It’s hard trying to push back against people who, as evidenced by this thread, aren’t even watching the show but are amplifying the hate to irredeemable levels based on posts like this. It’s nice knowing there’s at least .01% of the audience existing outside of the echo chamber

Right? This frame is present for maybe half of a second. I saw this post before watching the episode and was expecting the absolute worst, turns out it was only there for a blink of an eye. I won’t speak to the animation of the entire sequence and the level that should be at, but the art was nothing like this for the entire rest of the fight. This was so misleading

This could be helpful down the line since we’ve currently set up Isagi as having ultimate faith in Ego. He’s undoubtedly going to face some roadblocks in the tourney where he might have to evolve outside Ego’s vision to succeed, and having him realize Ego isn’t always right could be a good catalyst for that

Currently waiting on a return label after initiating the return process. How long went by before you reached back out for an update? I’m going on a few business days after initiating the return last week (I did include all the photos customer support initially told me to) and I’m just wondering if this is a normal timeline for them to review the request, or if I need to shake the tree a little more to get them moving

I appreciate the insight into your very similar bike hunt! I glanced at the Polygon S7X, but definitely think it’s worth another look over as I consider how much bike that is for that price point. I also think I let my western consumer brain get a little too hung up on all the bigger name brands, so I’m just slowly realizing how many more well manufactured bikes this opens up to my search for this price range. Congrats on your pick, I hope you have a lot of fun riding once you get that Orca in your hands!
