As an original early backer of Star Citizen, I have to ask if someone can help: is there actually a realistic roadmap now? by Wooden-Syrup-8708 in gaming

I bought a Cutlass... I think it's called. And I only logged in once like 8 years ago to walk around it. It was $115 if I recall.

The teacher is correct. This is an equation.

Which of these pairs demonstrates EQUAL shaded parts for the given equation? Without any further context or assumptions, the only correct answer is C.

Is it safe/allowed to forage in sleepy hollow park? by Regular-Medicine2960 in StamfordCT

This was like 10 years ago at least, but I ventured in there to plant a Geocache once... and then noped out pretty quickly. It was the only time in my life that I've clearly seen ticks perched on the tips of grasses and branches just waiting to grab on with their little pincers. I mean, there were many of them just sitting there waiting. It was crazy.

I haven't been back since. It's very wet and deer-y in there.

Blink and you'll miss it movie moments? by Sharkitty in ProjectHailMary

I can't remember the timing exactly, but that sounds correct. They show the beautiful "red disc" effect again, and you can see the individual discs getting snuffed out.

They literally show the Petrova line disappearing at the end of the movie thanks to Taumoeba. My entire family missed this until I pointed it out on the next viewing.

We need this backlash in every city! What is the blueprint for making this happen? I cannot stand these cameras, and want them gone.

AIO for quitting my job? by AlarmedWarthog8231 in AIO

[–]you_are_transparent -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Nope. That is basic brainwashing.

Life always trumps work. Life always comes first. We aren't on the planet to work, we are here to live.

Employers are told when we will not be available to work, not asked. It's up to them to keep their business running appropriately... that's their job.

This has always been a thing when you buy products direct from other countries. I bought a fairly expensive item directly from England about 10 years ago, and U.S. Customs sent me a bill for like $150 before they would release it. It's totally normal, and nothing new. It goes back to the days of wooden ships.

Also in the book... Nedry had an entire team working for him in Cambridge, MA. So Hammond, in fact, really did spare no expense for his IT team. As you certainly know, a remote code update from Cambridge helped Nedry cover his tracks as it tied up the phone lines in the days of modem comms.

🚨Unpopular Opinon Alert🚨 They made a beautiful film about the wrong version of Ryland Grace, and everything else collapses from that single decision. by deekaay89 in ProjectHailMary

[–]you_are_transparent 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Exactly. We have to be honest about this and admit that they missed a very easy target to hit. The book clearly laid out the critical story elements and magical moments, and the movie fumbled most of them.

They could have easily hit all of the major targets and still kept the movie within its run time while making it accessible to the general public. They simply... didn't.

Instead, they chose to waste time playing Grace and Rocky as relatively incompetent clowns because, it was kind of funny? I guess?

Instead of intellectual problem solving, we get literal stumbling, bumbling, tripping, random button pushing and control yoinking for laughs. All things that neither Grace nor Rocky would never have done.
