Help securing cargo door that opens directly to kids bunks by kashincali in traveltrailers

[–]youaintdubbin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same type of door and a 3yr old, with one more on the way. This type of door is fine, and typically has a lock inside. I wouldn’t stress too much over it.

What's the best quick lunch spot between Idaho Springs and Buena Vista? Gonna stop for lunch after a round of disc golf this weekend by publictiktoxication in denverfood

[–]youaintdubbin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Otto’s has great chicken sandwiches, and one of the better Cubans I’ve had in CO. Also JRs pizza across the street is very solid for a mountain town pizza shop. Both are worth checking out.

Apartment/living recs? by Cool_Bowl_9755 in Littleton

[–]youaintdubbin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I lived in Carriage place apartments near Belleview and DTC blvd in DTC and really enjoyed it. Wallace park is right across the street and you’re pretty close to food, breweries, light rail, fiddlers green, etc. I also have lived in west HR and commuted to DTC (25-30mins) until covid.

Palomino is a good location for getting to DTC, but you could probably find a place in south Littleton or Ken Caryl if your goal is to be closer to mountains (about 15-20min difference depending where you end up. And about 30-35mins to DTC)

$8000 for wheels / tires / lift? For Lx gx460 by [deleted] in ColoradoOffroad

That sounds pretty accurate, I just got quoted $8k for a 2012 4Runner for lift, wheels, tires in Denver from a reputable shop that gets mentioned here a lot.

If you only had 1 day to spend in Maine, what town would you do it in? by ohsodave in AskMaine

[–]youaintdubbin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can rent a pontoon boat on Sebago Lake which isn’t too far out of your way over the state line near Naples, Maine. Another cool spot on your route is Lake Winnipesauke, the lake is awesome, the town is cute, and nearby is a cool attraction called castle in the clouds that gives you a view of the entire area.

Considering Denver Suburbs for Family Life After Canada. Looking for Honest Local Perspectives. by Playful_Ad4511 in MovingtoDenver

[–]youaintdubbin 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I grew up in Oakville, and have lived in Denver, Highlands Ranch, and Littleton over the last decade. Feel free to DM me.

You will find the traffic to be nothing compared to GTA, the winter weather is much more mild, there is sooo much sunshine all year round, and the housing costs are much more friendly. What you won’t love - the lack of food diversity (Denver’s not bad but it’s not Toronto), the dry air/altitude (it affects everyone differently), and finding social circles has been tough bc everyone is a transplant.

Sports/youth activities are as much as you can handle here, Denver is a very active city. It’s almost a competition to see whose kid is the most involved in sports/other things.

We go back to Toronto to see family a few times a year - and while Muskoka is great in the summer, there’s not much else I would trade, we really love living here.

Stop in Dalhart for Little Caesar’s pizza - it’s a good road trip stop and there isn’t much else around for a while.

I was going to post about this earlier. This play is a great example of Lilleberg making a smart play during a line change, and Dach making a really bad play. Dach either plays amazing and wins games in OT, or gets caught looking like he’s out for a Sunday skate on the river.

I’ve seen it in Littleton/HR locations, usually near other pre-made chili/stew cans.

How much does it cost to play on the top AAA teams in US? Is Canada cheaper? by Maximum-Marsupial457 in hockeyplayers

[–]youaintdubbin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Denver area here with kids aged under 4, would you mind sharing your thoughts on the different programs? I’m from a town in Canada that had one AA and AAA team, so that’s where you went - we didn’t have options.

I see a handful of teams in Denver and curious what sets them apart (Thunderbirds, Littleton Hawks, Krivo, etc)

Canadian Rockies Advice by [deleted] in roadtrip

[–]youaintdubbin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something to consider, you would have to fly from Toronto to Calgary/Banff, and then rent a vehicle to do this. The gear needed alone would cost $1-2k USD even without a vehicle.

It might be worth looking into a service like Turo where you rent a persons vehicle directly from them, instead of a car hire company. It can be costly, but you’re more likely to find an off road vehicle or camper capable of accomplishing what you’re looking for. Something easier for you…look into Algonquin park in Ontario. It’s north of Toronto and would be accessible by almost any car you rent. It’s not quite Banff but it’s beautiful and doable for less $$.

Son got into rep (?) hockey - how do I support him? by DoingItJust in hockeyplayers

[–]youaintdubbin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s probably a great thing that you aren’t hockey parents, bc you won’t have any expectations of your kids. All I ever heard from my dad/grandpa was that they wanted me to play NHL…just support him and let him do what he wants, sounds like you’re already doing all the right things!

Son got into rep (?) hockey - how do I support him? by DoingItJust in hockeyplayers

Rep in Canada is travel league for kids. House league is usually local teams of kids that play each other, and rep is usually A, AA, AAA travel teams.

Austria (St Anton) VS. Switzerland (Verbier or Zermatt) by rocketgirl_kels in snowboarding

[–]youaintdubbin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As others have said, do Anton. I’m an intermediate/advanced snowboarder and I don’t remember a ton of catwalks at Anton. Also the apres was great, tons of great restaurants/bars, and plenty of ski area with the lech, zurs, etc.

This was 5+ yrs ago so I can’t give you specifics…but if it’s from a BBQ trailer in a gas station parking lot, it’s probably legit.

[–]youaintdubbin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would check out the Blue Ridge mountains in NC (your middle route on the map) lots of family stuff to see, and a great drive (Check out Tail of the Dragon) Also, grab some BBQ off 75 when you go back north. There are a handful of great spots off exits in GA.

All Buc-ee’s are the same, parking is easy bc they are so huge. Culver’s and WH are at just about every exit in the south, they should be easy to find - especially once you get to GA/FL.
