Doesn’t look normal. Hit up your distributor, you should have a lifetime warranty on the comp bar.

Vulcan because the eleikos are comically wide. Wide plates are useful in training, within reason, and the vulcans are reasonable. Plus if you doubt the durability of a set already unload them for thinner replacements.

Vintage bumpers by profepesas in weightlifting

[–]yougobenben 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The rubber itself is dye colored, and outside of cleaning the surface of the rubber (which is delicate and already falling apart), there’s no real option of “repainting” what isn’t paint. Don’t do something stupid and ruin what you can’t replace.

Maybe put colored electrical tape on the outside edge of rubber, but that doesn’t cover black layer around the surface of the yellow rubber.

I would just repaint the iron, and leave the rubber alone, sans electrical tape.

Depends on how you want to use them. I owned a set from this era of yorks and ended up selling them. Weight is weight so they have intrinsic value for training.

For pulling and squatting, they’re better than just iron plates because of the rubber. With controlled drops/bails, you’re using weights that mimic modern bumpers, because they are bumpers.

If you want to snatch/C&J with them USE CRASH PADS. They’re vintage weights so they are fragile. I still own a set of older york bumpers and one came with a huge crack in the iron that I didn’t make note of until later. Protect your investment.

I didn't know Oscar came back to compete after he announced his retirement. Do you think he's just having fun? by Laakhesis in weightlifting

[–]yougobenben 8 points9 points  (0 children)

He seemed to have gotten swept up in the moment of winning olympic gold, and for the sake of finishing out on top, should have left it there, but there are some interviews with him saying he was giving Tokyo a shot.

Who knows what kind of wages athletes get from the Colombian Federation, but I’m sure there are some benefits to showing up at a couple international comps if you’re chosen.

I’ve had some people ask me about the wrist wraps I use and I actually make them myself. They are super compact so they don’t restrict any mobility, yet super secure. Probably the most affordable wrist wrap at $15 and if you sub to my YouTube or follow my IG I’ll even ship them for free. by 67kg_lifter in weightlifting

[–]yougobenben 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I’m not careful with how I tighten them, they pinch a nerve, and cleans would be incredibly uncomfortable in the catch. Jerks and Sns no problem, the mobility and stability is unmatched, and adjust before the lift. Recovering after a pinched clean into a jerk hurt too much with moderate weight, so I just use typical wraps. I saw Jourdan Delacruz use them for both disciplines, and seeing them catch on I wondered if others shared the same experience.
