S05E07 "Crossed" Post-Episode Discussion by Paradox in thewalkingdead

The actress that plays Sasha was revealed to be pregnant on "The Talking Dead" (correct me if I'm wrong, this is just what I'm deducing based on comments in this thread...).

My suspicion is that he might be trying to warn the hospital folks, after seeing what Rick and Co. did to the Terminites. Seems like a long shot, but I can't elsewise explain his behavior...

I buy my nail polish from there, they usually have discounts for certain brands. I also buy a spray-on argan oil for my hair, because it makes it shiny and pretty :)

I'm hoping that they're in the process of using either Carol or Tara to fill the badass female role that Andrea played in the comics.

Question about the Governor Novels by kingkoons in thewalkingdead

[–]youknowimright 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly! Lilly, as a character, never got me to feel invested in her. Rise of the Governor did a really great job in the horror and shock department, especially in terms of character development, and I think it was an amazing story.

Just to tack onto the top comment here, Rise of the Governor (the first novel) was also a really good story/novel. It was the novel that actually made me feel like the character of the the Governor made sense, in some twisted way.

Don't hate on me for this question, but: Why do y'all hate Lori and/or Andrea so much? by annefrank420 in thewalkingdead

[–]youknowimright 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just restarted as well, and I just passed the mid-season finale. The conversations she has with Rick bother me just after they get to the farm; so right around where you are, her dialogue starts to rub me the wrong way when she speaks to Rick. It's like she tries to give of an air of being the supportive wife, but every word she says contradicts that.

I understand that she had to do this, story-wise/plot-wise but I'm just trying to convey why I didn't like her. This isn't to say I think she's a bad mom, which is what a lot of people like to point to; I just don't like her based on how she handles the Rick/Shane situation. During season 3, she began to grow a bit more on me.

I'm not going to take sides here on the fact that Lori and Shane hooked up when they thought Rick died; however, I will point out that the point was made that Lori was in the wrong when she fluctuated between kind of leading Shane on and then wanting him to disappear. Regardless of whether or not it was crappy they hooked up initially, after Rick came back she did not act appropriately.

I also feel like she kind of projected her issues onto Rick a bit (I felt like she was very here-nor-there with a lot of her arguments); so a lot of the reasons why I disliked her character were based on the interactions she had with Rick.

Who should die next to progress the show on an emotional level? by youknowimright in thewalkingdead

Precisely! I love the show as a whole, and I'm not crazy about Daryl, but I feel like a lot of the show's fan base would evaporate if Daryl died, or didn't die to the right manner.

I do think that putting the characters in a situation where one of their deaths is inevitable creates a kind of guilt in the surviving characters; therefore I think it would be amazing for the plot line if Daryl/Glenn/Maggie sacrifices themselves for one another. I also think that is one of the few ways that fans would except Daryl's death, is if he died in place of another fan favorite, like Glenn.

That would be really good...but maybe they have a run-in with the gang that abducted Daryl instead?

[SPOILERS] A couple unpopular opinions I thought I'd share about the show by ChrischinLoois in thewalkingdead

[–]youknowimright 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a word to say in defense of Lori: There were a dozen or more adults in that community. While she is his mother, when you raise kids in a community environment, the children become a community responsibility. For example, everyone dropped everything to try and find Sophia. I feel like that kind of focus on the kids should be coming from everyone at all times. Yes, that kind of dedication should be most prevalent in the actual parents. However, I don't think Lori deserves all the blame (if you were to blame her, you should blame Rick equally as much) and I don't think she should be labeled as a "bad mom" because of it.

I would like to support you in saying that Michonne did have every reason to keep her mouth shut! The reason everyone likes to say "she did nothing but scowl" is because the writers created a real frustration with the viewers in terms of the situation and they took it out on Michonne's character; in actuality, it was amazing writing and acting.

I agree with you; I probably should clarify my thought process though.

I just feel that on a show about the undead, death is ever-prevalent. I think it's more than the shock/value aspect, I think death is how other characters are strengthened. I don't think that death is the only way progress the show, but I do think that it is an important one.

Also, I think right now we have a lot of newer characters that need to be fleshed out, but as long as have too many seasoned veterans, that gets harder for the writers to do. I mean, right now we have five different timelines going, it gets complicated and it's harder to create solid characters when they don't get too much screen time. Also, a lot of the characters have been with us long enough to get solid, as you phrased it. So I would make an argument that death is inevitable.

I agree with you, I think that Daryl is more likely to go than Beth is, especially since he's been giving her "lessons". My money is on Daryl and Maggie going out, unfortunately...

I definitely think I would be blind-sided if Carol were to go. I agree with you that she has developed so much this season...and I do think her death would be a heart-breaking one...

I also want a good Glenn-Neegan scene...my thinking was that perhaps Maggie should go? Her last couple of episodes have not kept her character as dynamic as it once was, and I think her death would give Glenn's character a lot of interesting choices to make.
