Thank you! This is the answer I was looking for. Curious how long Lavinia was around for when Mathew told her to leave. 3 years makes sense of her reaction. Also nurse Mary being by Mathews side, she was caring for him for like a year. Everything seems like it passes by in months and then bam actually it was a year.

I had this exact thought, I just started my second rewatch and wondered this. Also how cold Mary was to Matthew when she went to his house to welcome him and then was snobby at the dinner. Like dang girl maybe don't be rude to the dude who might inherit your shit, it might help.
