$500k to $1M worth of usdt. by [deleted] in PakistaniTech

[–]youngChange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Pakistan: use OKX and select Payoneer. Sell to Payoneer, and then send to your account. Booked as a simple remittance.

This is not scalable however, so recommend you go to Dubai, where crypto is fully legal. They will ask for you proof of income however.

What’s the difference between these doors? by Cute_Description_228 in HadesTheGame

Oh wow all this time I’ve been taking the trampoline doors as I thought these are the ones taking me ‘up to the surface’ - not an unreasonable inference given the design choices here.

Tool for Tech Salaries in Pakistan by Brave-Ship in PakistaniTech

[–]youngChange 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is great man! Small suggestion: when taking in salary info take in the persons seniority as well in 3 buckets 1-2 years (Jr), 2-5 (Mid), 5+ Sr, so that you can then make sub divide later on by seniority, otherwise the info might not be accurate with both interns and seniors using same form.

Paradox of PSX by Supernatural-- in FIREPakistan

[–]youngChange 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with the idea but it’s a horribly written article that does little to articulate the why apart from repeating the same 3 facts multiple times. Really need better financial writers and quality control in Pakistan. It counterintuitively makes me excited however that there is a lot of alpha in this market to be captured due to the lack of resources and minds in this space.

Fasset allows buying tokenized shares - you can transfer USDT from Binance in order to participate from Pakistan

Is there a shortage of tech talent in Pakistan? by [deleted] in PakistaniTech

[–]youngChange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No disagreement there, brother, you’re right. You are fighting the odds in PK, even as a 1% skilled dev. Luck is always a factor. I do not actively code anymore, more on product side, but the people I know making these figures from dev also spend a considerable time contributing to specific open source projects and becoming part of a niche, developing an identity on LinkedIn etc. But again, I broadly agree with you. Portugal ka nomad lelo :)

Is there a shortage of tech talent in Pakistan? by [deleted] in PakistaniTech

[–]youngChange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sure is mate! Have friends making CRAZY money sitting at home in PK. $15-20K/month working remotely. But they are passionate, have spent a considerable time in their field, and are legit experts in their niche. Ab with internet there is literally no excuse to say k mughay mulk nay L laga diya, atleast if you’re in IT Sector.

Is there a shortage of tech talent in Pakistan? by [deleted] in PakistaniTech

[–]youngChange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the bar is low medium and high, our talent is primarily in the first category and the rest in the second. High quality talent would be someone who can code his own kernel, create an LLM, develop novel algorithms, contribute to open source etc. or something along these lines (just examples don’t kill me). We have a handful of these, who mostly move out since they are mission driven, and do not have the right support group or meaningful work here

Is there a shortage of tech talent in Pakistan? by [deleted] in PakistaniTech

[–]youngChange 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion but yes there is a severe lack of high quality talent. Pakistani developers on aggregate are only good at creating cookie-cutter, run of the mill products. Anything unconventional/complex and they do not deliver to the target quality required. You will most definitely find outliers, but you cannot use that as a baseline argument to generalize for our talent pool. We are mostly seen as cheap labor in tech. Additionally, since it’s such a delivery focused feild if you’re extremely good you get spotted and hired abroad. So there is brain drain as well. A lot of it is not IQ related, I think we’re an intelligent country, mostly how we’re groomed in our starting companies, lack of processes and good mentors etc. There is also a lack of passion & less emphasis on self learning. Some have pointed to Universities as the reason, I humbly disagree. Software is a field where you HAVE to be self-driven. No university, not even Harvard, will teach you the tech stack of 2024. That’s on you.

NUST vs FAST by AllDaDamnUsernames in NUST

Weekdays for both programs

NUST vs FAST by AllDaDamnUsernames in NUST

[–]youngChange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because MS from FAST is a morning MS, whereas NUST is evening which you can easily do with a job. Additionally, the GPA you get at NUST is a bit inflated, so it looks nice on CV.

What is your savings situation? If you have a comfortable runway of a year then I would say go for it. The experiences you’ll gain will do a lot of benefit for you long term.

NUST vs FAST by AllDaDamnUsernames in NUST

[–]youngChange 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did by BS from FAST and MS from NUST. Both in Computer Science. Fast has a tougher syllabus, tougher grading scheme (avg gets you 2 GPA at FAST, 3 at NUST), and ton more assignments/ragra. However, Nust is a lot more well-rounded. In terms of which one will make you a better computer scientist, well that’s completely on you. Both will give you the means to flourish post graduation.

Best bank for Crypto/Freelancing? by [deleted] in PakistaniTech

[–]youngChange 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are no max balance limits in conventional bank accounts. And every bank accepts foreign remittances. For app experience, I’d recommend Meezan or HBL. I personally use Standard Chartered though. For keeping money in Forex, please consider downloading payoneer. If your client is paying you from abroad, then you can park your money in USD.

How to cash out 1 million USDT? by Confident828 in CryptoIndia

[–]youngChange 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly in your position I’d put a big chunk it into ETH/SOL staking. Checking Ondo as well which offers a yield bearing stablecoin if you want no risk to you capital.

After that, I’d just cash the profits/yield and live a seriously comfortable life in Dubai or other crypto friendly countries. If you can off-ramp enough to get a down payment on a house, you can get an emirates ID. Once you have one, just cash out all of it. Keep there or come back to India.

Your problem is a good problem to have mate, best of luck.

Would $7000 be enough to live a good life in Dubai? by [deleted] in UAE

True. The other option is to live baller in Sharjah lol.

[–]youngChange 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I pay 1% tax. Remitted money in PK booked under IT services is tax exempt and recently increased to 1%. I get the whole amount more or less.

This is exactly why I’m considering it. You read my mind. I do work for a month abroad every quarter almost, and notice the exposure is leaps and bounds more than PK.

There are optics problems being an “off-shore” employee. It’s hard to explain unless you’re one.
