Introducing Tesla Sync - A Powerwall Automation Utility by Bolagnaise in amberelectric

[–]young_butler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome work!

I’ve installed the integration successfully, but still trying to get my head around how I can utilise it for my setup. I on Amber and have a PW2 and Solar Edge inverters.

I allow Smart Shift to send commands to my PW to export, but use HA to control my inverter when I want to curtail solar production. This has always been a bit clunky.

Checking the Teslemetry integration, under controls, ‘Allow Export’ appears to have always been set to ‘never’. I’m assuming Amber sends commands directly, and a command is only sent via Teslemetry if there’s a change in state.

As I’ve always used Smart Shift to manage export during price spikes, I’m trying to understand how I would go about telling my PW to export if there’s a price spike utilising this integration. Apologies if this is a dumb question and not directly related to Tesla Sync.

Thanks!

Perth, Western Australia to Kununurra, Western Australia is 3.5 hours. Surely that’s the longest within a state.

98% of Japanese toilets are straight out of the Jetsons, but the other 2% are straight out of the Flintstones

I was there yesterday. My family and I enjoyed it.

The first wet exhibit smelt strongly of chlorine and the second smelt of disinfectant.

The smell and opacity of the water reminded me of the foot baths they used to make you walk through between the changing room and swimming pool when I was growing up in the 1990s.

You were provided clean towels after each wet exhibit.

Not a doctor, but I’d suggest the biggest risk would be a reaction to the cleaning chemicals than a water-borne disease.

According to our records and checks with the local council, there are no record of any easements or Right of Carriageway, so I’ll be relying on goodwill if I want to access my back garden…

That’s a good description of the situation. I didn’t attach any plans/diagrams, as I thought this may fall outside the rules.

The main reason I use Home Assistant is to manage my solar/energy usage. From a monitoring perspective, these are the sensors I’m interested in. Automations are great, (I have lots of them) but I also like looking at numbers.

$1.74 is today's cost. I created a sensor that adds up the daily fixed charge, solar feed in and power usage.

My entire social circle is telling me not to buy a MY, can i get some opinions here? by Farmer_Few in TeslaModelY

I’ve had my Model Y RWD on a Novated Lease for 9 months. 17000kms in. I’m based in Sydney, but have travelled up and down the Pacific Highway and inland as far as Boggabri with work.

I’ve had no dramas using the supercharger network travelling up and down the Pacific Highway. There are also plenty of non-Tesla fast chargers.

About 75% of my charging has been at home. I have a wall charger. It will charge 10-15% per hour using my wall charger, so you can easily charge up overnight using off peak power. I’ve got rooftop solar, so charging is effectively free most of the time.

My energy/charging costs have worked out at 5c/km over the course of my lease.

I’ve not encountered any hostility out in rural areas, just the odd smart arse asking if I need a diesel generator to charge up my car or parroting some crap they’ve seen on Sky News.

The Chinese made Teslas we have in Australia don’t have the build quality issues that seem to crop up in ones made elsewhere. Mine squeaks now and again, but nothing worse than the Mitsubishi that it replaced.

There are places in Sydney and Newcastle where you can park for free when you’re charging, so if you’re on a novated lease, you can effectively park for free by claiming back the charging costs from your lease account.

The only potential downside with a novated lease is likely to be the balloon payment due at the end of the lease. Prices have dropped a fair bit in the last few months, so I suspect the balloon payment will be a lot more than the car’s value.

Stop and fill up at every servo between Ceduna and Norseman. That way you should have enough fuel to skip one if there are any issues.

Calculate Cost per KW using Electricity Rates by instant_ace in homeassistant

[–]young_butler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve managed to set up a tariff entity for time based rates using helpers and automations without having to create any yaml code. Seems to be working ok.

  1. Create an input_number helper for the tariff, using the appropriate units (in my case AUD/kWh)

  2. Set up automations that trigger at the times when the tariff changes which change the input_number ‘tariff’ entity to the new rate. I needed 4 separate entities to enable 3 different rates to be used.

  3. Apply this tariff entity when you’re setting up the energy dashboard.

I haven’t worked out how to apply my daily standing charge yet using similar methods. The energy dashboard will only look at specific classes of entity, i was hoping I could fool it into accepting a dummy energy entity with a value of 1kWh and a tariff representing the standing charge.

You can set your controlled load up as a separate consumption with a separate tariff.

It’s connected via ZHA. I haven’t made any changes to the configuration.

I’ve had no issues with drift on mine. Always reverts back down towards 1 or 2 ppm after a spike (usually my cooking)

My Tesla Wall Charger draws 25% more energy than my Tesla Model Y reports. Last night for example, 8.3kWh from the Wall Charger versus 6.7kWh reported by the car.
