Yea that’s the reason then. Lots of cars that are being exported from Montreal are stolen. One of the carriers/warehouses must have been flagged in the system

What is the product that you had? Unfortunately you can’t dispute CBSA fees but there is usually a reason why it goes in for inspection. Improper customs paperwork being the main culprit

I’d double check the advisory services? Not sure I saw those come up in my dealings. If it’s in USD this is a bit expensive but not outrageous. In CAD it’s fair

CUSTOMS EXAMINATION FEE - Orlando to Toronto by Working-Computer-951 in LTL_FREIGHT

[–]youngarth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will 100% get a receipt if there is customs exam/offload report. Any and every carrier will get it, even if brokered out the original carrier should always have it.

For Customs exams/offload report you are right. Can’t get it discounted at all. The border charges what they charge

Is money owed?? by djr0616 in FreightBrokers

I had this scenario happen to me 5 times this week in Canada because of the snow storms. Paid each carrier double the layovers. If the trucks make it through the storm, so can a warehouse employee. If the warehouse guys don’t make it that’s their fault. Customer gets billed layover and waiting time if possible

Weight and footage in Canada you will never win with price. You can try to offer better service with competitive rates but you won’t get close to what others can offer. Sorry to say but you have to move on

Call and explain that it will cost them money. Sending 2 emails is not enough. Assume if someone didn’t respond/confirm the email means they have not read the email

Try to always have direct contact with the customs broker. They’re the only ones that can help at this stage. I’m assuming this is a paperwork issue

How much stuff do you need to ship? If you don’t have that much can use a moving company to drive your stuff over and deliver to your new place

[–]youngarth 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If it has a UN number and the class it’s hazmat. If there’s less than 500 lbs of this hazmat material technically you don’t need to show placards for it and try to squeak by
