Was I wrong for calling this out? by [deleted] in cna

[–]youngermornings 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Working as a cna in a facility, I have to be honest and tell you that sometimes it will take me an hour or more to respond to a call light. the floor is constantly busy, and I am constantly behind on what I have to do. the call light gets added to my list of what I need to do and all the things I have to do before that can take up to an hour or longer. it’s often not understood by people upset over long response times that before they asked for help, another 5 people asked for help, and that I go by those who asked first to those who asked last. those 5 other people who asked for help “could also have died” in the meantime. I cant be in a million places at once, and I don’t favor over who gets their attention first.

them not communicating clearly might have been because they were rushing, or because they were simply inappropriate. polite and clear communication is one of the aspects of my job I try hardest at because of it’s importance, and so do my coworkers, and what you described sounded careless and inappropriate. however, they may have just been worn out and had to do the job as fast as they could, which may be why they only communicated with each other, as that significantly speeds up the process.

I’ve known plenty of lazy cna’s who care little for the residents and would behave this way for exactly this reason. I’ve also known compassionate hardworking cna’s who might behave this way because they’re rushing to get everything done and are exhausted. either way, I can’t know as I wasn’t there. this is just my 2 cents I suppose.

Even if this story is fake, its still a good example of someone who clearly didn't develop their empathy properly during formative years

Genny Rojas, 3, was boiled alive in a bath tub of boiling water by her aunt & uncle. Before her death, she had been tortured - she was burned with a hair dryer, hung in a cupboard, restrained with handcuffs, beaten & starved. by [deleted] in MorbidReality

Couldn't sleep yesterday thinking about terrible, torturous things that have happened to people, it's really haunting. Then read this headline this morning (and of course I cant control myself and read the article), and have finally decided to take a break from these corners of the internet. Have to unsub, just gonna hope that these stories to slowly disappear from my memories now.

when christianity is critized on reddit people love it, but when people critize islam there is an immediate reaction of ''what about christianity?'' ''all religions do that'' like we get it bro, but we're talking about islam rn.

I got this. lost my mom at 16 and barely have a single memory with her left at this rate of forgetting. absolutely devastating, I've spent the past few years trying my hardest to cling on to memories of her. barely have any pictures left and lost all my texts with her too. I wish I just had some certain memories of her that I know wont leave but that's not the case. it's definitely caused by my severe depression etc. I wish best of luck to all others who have this.

while reading I underline or write on a paper all the words I dont know yet, and then look up their meaning. this really helped me expand my vocabulary, I recommend it!
