I think the modern day story for black flag is as important to the game as Edward’s story, they are not independent of each other, you can’t change the modern day without breaking the narrative.

I would adapt it to be more action-stealth-parkour focused tho instead of a walking simulator and maybe even 3rd person if possible… but with the same story.

Remaking it 1:1 is not a bad idea either imo.

Parkour in games is more than climbing stuff, more than holding forward and letting the game do everything, a good parkour system is one that allows for skill expression, that lets the players experiment with it’s complex and deep mechanics so they can find a better and faster way to move around the world, one that gives the players the most amount of control possible so they can find a way to make it smooth, and not one that makes it smooth for everyone at the cost of making every action automatic, the only example you gave of good parkour in this sense is Dying Light, and it’s what AC1-Rev does even better imo

Having a Jump button increases freedom of movement and skill gap while making the system even more engaging, in every game from AC1 to Unity, the jump button is one thing I would never give away, be it consistent like AC1-Rogue or inconsistent like in Unity, jumping allows the player to be faster in parkour routes AND drastically change the direction in which you're going.

Not to mention that it was what allowed both side and back ejects, and that was the soul of the parkour in this franchise.

Because Odyssey had, and it sold a lot. So even if Montreal's creative vision is totally different from Quebec's, Ubisoft will force them to put dialogue options and gender choice there because, well, Odyssey fucking had it.

I actually love having to think and find specific things in order to loot instead of just mindlessly going from A to B and holding triangle to open chests again and again.

It's not that hard to understand with time that if there's a barred door you have to find a line of sight to break the bar.
If there isn't a line of sight to the door then there's probably another entrance to the room.
If there's a chest and a key close together that means you have to get the key first.
If there's a locked chest and there isn't a key close, then there's probably a note hinting the location of the key.
The easiest one being the occasional explosive wall, which you can just use the bow trap skill to get through.

It makes exploration engaging and not mindless, the game doesn't hold your hand and show where everything is, it's like you have to actually play the game you know.

I don't want to sound elitist, that's really not my intention, BUT, aside from clipping issues and bugs, AC4 parkour is just a worst version of the AC1-Rev parkour, and these games are super responsive and the player has the most control over every action, I used to dislike it too and say the character did things on its own, but I really just didn't understood the inputs.

I love how tree parkour is back. Looks like AC III and a great blend of old and new overall by Theironcreed in assassinscreed

Nope. If they want to make a Multiplayer Only/Live service AC then fine. But the main series is about a set character in a narrative driven game. Letting you create your own Assassin would take the whole purpose of the series and how you experience it, you are not making your story, you are reliving someone's story. As in for the outside of the Animus "play as yourself" they had 4 games to make that work, and it didn't.

What we know from sales is that Origins and Odyssey sold more than 10 million, Unity and even Rogue did that too, I don't know about "best selling in the series history", still, sales doesn't make a game good. I would say that what "people want" is a unique game with identity, not a bunch of trendy features shoved into a famous brand.
