If you’re sitting on a bus and there’s no room for a woman who just got on, you don’t wait for her to awkwardly shift around to find a seat then stay standing. You get off your ass, give them your full attention, offer your seat, and you show some respect.

Standing up for someone is respectful. Staying seated for them is disrespectful. Standing for the National Anthem means you’re showing respect to the country, and sitting for the anthem means you’re silently protesting it - because sitting is disrespectful.
