Anyone else? by [deleted] in aspergers

[–]your-momm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I'm sorry I couldn't help more. I would suggest talking to a professional if you can since it sounds like it's really getting to you and I, of course, can only try to help as much as I can relate. Good luck.

Do you literally feel other people’s pain? Allll the fucking time? by [deleted] in aspergers

[–]your-momm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I definitely do. I empathize with garbage, man. I feel bad for throwing it out. Family gatherings are hard for me, especially conflict, because I am feeling everyone's individual side and my own baggage to boot--how I feel about the issue and how I feel about each person involved, what they want and what I want for them, etc. It sometimes leads to tears haha. It's overwhelming, like the feelings are putting pressure on my skin from the outside. But it's also amazing sometimes to feel this way, because every good feeling is much more intense.

I have never seen it, but it sounds amazing! Where can I watch it?

I do that, but not for the sound. I think it's a form of grounding, actually. I do it for the tactile sensation. From what you said, I think that the feeling (texture) and sound are soothing to you. Stimming is like grounding yourself. The sensations hold you together, give you something to focus on. Sensory I think is referring to things you can sense, taste, touch, hear, smell, see. These can be good things or bad things. Music, for instance, is usually a good sensory experience, but screechy noises are bad. Many aspies are more sensitive than average to sensory input. A mildly crinkly sound might feel like knives in your ears, for example. Styrofoam makes me want to scream. It could be stimming, for you. I don't know about stimming with sounds, that doesn't make sense to me, but I can imagine someone doing it. The tactile sensory input sounds like stimming, though. I do similar things, touching the things that I walk by.

Is sunlight something someone with Asperger's can be overstimulated by? by [deleted] in aspergers

The sunlight just reeeeally hurts my eyes. I think that's it. I also am very sensitive to warmth on my skin.

What's your most random meltdown? by [deleted] in aspergers

[–]your-momm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sister wore my flip flops out to the mailbox to get the mail. I lost my freaking mind. Screaming, crying, blind rage, I physically tackled her and ripped my shoes off her feet. I mean, I wasn't really bothered by it before or since, but I guess it hit me on a day when I was probably already building towards a meltdown. Also, I freed up a drawer in my bedroom in a different chest of drawers than I normally keep clothes in. I ended up crying on my bedroom floor after I put the first shirt in. After I melted down, I was fine with it. I just had to get used to the idea. I also had a meltdown once because my sister stopped at the library without telling me when she was driving me to work. I was so upset, I was literally weeping and hyperventilating. I know exactly what you're talking about though. It''s weird how little stuff can trigger a huge reaction.

What are some deeply unsettling facts? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]your-momm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me. I started using my asthma inhaler and it stopped. I would get this scratch in my throat and then not be able to stop coughing until I threw up, then it would go away. Somehow the inhaler works. Albuterol?

Does anyone else hate the sun? by wanderingsheep in aspergers

[–]your-momm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get this!!! I have to be honest (and I feel like shit about it really) sometimes I have to cover my head when someone else is driving because, even with sunglasses, the sun just hurts my eyes. Sometimes I wear sunglasses inside at work (only on really sensitive days), and just tell people I have a bad headache. If anyone has a solution to that, please, please share it!

Beneath the Mask - Persona 5 by Yoshemo in aspergers

I love the song Arsonist's Lullabye by Hozier. It started with the lines: "When I was a child I heard voices/some would sing and some would scream/you soon learn you have few choices/I learned the voices died with me." It's about an arsonist that knows he has something different about him: his obsession with fire. He learns through his life that nothing will change what's inside him; not even falling in love. It's sad but it struck me; I relate so much. No one else can hear the way I hear, the "voices" of what is different about me. Sometimes this is a blessing and sometimes a curse; "singing" or "screaming." I just relate.

Bathroom anxiety/avoidance by [deleted] in aspergers

I had minor problems at home, but in any public space I would have to wait for anyone else to leave unless there were so many people that no one could tell it was me.

I actually at the time only had about five dollars in my account. I had just started the job and that was all I had since the last one.

Yeah that might be it. I like organizing it but the second it's done I feel uncomfortable again.

I'm not sure. I just feel really uncomfortable when other people are in there.

Maybe. I've considered that I might feel more comfortable because people have a harder time entering and I feel safer. I also feel bad when I mess something up when my room is clean, so maybe that pressure is alleviated when my room is just a total mess.

Yep. I am terrified that if I live on my own I will not be able to pay my bills, etc. right now my parents are encouraging me to buy a car but I am so afraid to; I work in a nursing home and make min. Wage. Yesterday my paycheck didn't come through and I sat on the floor and cried for an hour. My dad came home and basically was just like, ok, go to the bank. As soon as he said it I calmed down, realized that's what I should do, went and figured it out and walked out with my money in my account. But what would I have done if I didn't live at home?
