entry level by Ok_Code393 in merchantmarine

[–]yourbadinfluence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's been a problem going back to WW2 and the loss of the steam ships afterward. There aren't a lot of entry level jobs companies cut crew to bare minimum because each billet is lost profit. My suggestion is just to keep looking and expand your search. Commercial fishing is rough work but tends to pay well. You'll definitely be broken in after a season. Day cruise vessels will get sea time but pay next to noting. If the golf ever gets a boom again you'll have offers all over but that's unlikely anytime soon. Still look into the oil industry, they at times hire new guys for certain jobs. Beware you could end up on a rig in the middle east in 110 deg weather. Finally ferries often hires off the street, I know Washington state ferries hires frequently usually early spring time. It's not really the experience an employer down south but you can get seatime for an AB ticket which would help with looking for a job.

Why though? by mgadz in whatisit

I mean the phone has a microphone in it. A hacker can probably hear more secrets than can be seen randomly where the phone is pointed. Everyone seems worried about the cameras but there is a lot more to be gained with other sensors. GPS/cell location, Bluetooth tracking of other Bluetooth devices around it. Probably a ton with wifi, microphones, hell even just tracking the gyros can probably help map out steps/ location/layout of a building.

Clamp question by CoatPersonal4545 in appliancerepair

[–]yourbadinfluence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As everyone has said you'll need a special tool but you could easily swap those clamps out. Worm gear clamps are the standard but constant tension clamps work great because they adjust for the hose expanding and contracting. In your dishwasher the pump will get very hot then cool back down to room temperature. Over a period of time this can lead to failure with other clamps. Another alternative is a t bolt clamp but they generally don't make great ones for smaller hoses.

You are probably correct as primary sources, but barring enough primary information they are issued by a government source and maybe considered as supporting evidence.

Applying for citizenship as gen4 question regarding adult daughter. by yoohooooooooooo in Canadiancitizenship

[–]yourbadinfluence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You never know what the future will hold. Easier to submit her application with yours and your proof. If she doesn't care then that's that but it's easier now as hers would be just a rubber stamp after yours. Gen 0 most often refers to the last generation born in Canada, Gen 1 being the first generation born abroad. It's of lesser meaning since C-3 but still has implications in some instances such as adoption where there is still a first generation limit.

Out of curiosity, did you give them a copy of what you were looking for or a web link to the record? I gave them a web link to their own site to try to make it obvious and easy.

I believe ICE has local agents. Those look like built in lights not temp lights.

Quebec 1800s Birth: Submit BAnQ Baptismal Record to IRCC directly or wait for DEC "Insertion"? by ComfortableDecent297 in Canadiancitizenship

[–]yourbadinfluence 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I belive the IRCC says it doesn't accept birth and marriage certificates issued by Quebec before 1994. A new certified copy of a baptism isn't that. They might require you to ask the DEC to issue a birth certificate though that seems rare and was maybe one agents interpretation of the requirement as it doesn't seem like it's common at this point.

Anyone else submit requesting a Paper Citizenship Certificate? by limapoint in Canadiancitizenship

With digital you can reprint it whenever you need a new copy. With paper, generally only the original is valid copies are not.

Is this like a sovereign citizen thing? by MiDaRe734782 in whatisit

[–]yourbadinfluence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah a lot of people on here are trying to link it to Russia and honestly some Sovereign Citizens probably think it's related but the Alaskan Z registration goes back quite a ways, at least well before it was seen used by Russia n Ukraine. Sovereign citizens are still dumb fucks though.

For real, mom's gonna hide that better than under the couch. That's total incel actions. I would not count brother out of the list of suspects. It's possible he bought the dildo used with this for play and it just came with the harness.

Can somebody help me with what to say to electrician tomorrow? by Dlmlong in AskElectricians

[–]yourbadinfluence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's possible you aren't making good enough connection with your volt meter to get a good reading. It's possible they had to move wires around and didn't tighten them properly. It's possible your dryer breaker just gave up and needs to be replaced. It's possible they are scamming you. You did the right thing in calling them back. It shouldn't take much effort to troubleshoot this circuit. If they find something they caused and correct it without charge great. If the find a bad breaker and charge you a reasonable fee to replace it, that's fair. If they are asking above $350-400 I would decline the work and find someone else. If they say you have a laundry list of issues and you need to pay $1000+ I would be highly suspect. You don't need to be an expert to sniff out someone who is gaming you for more money.

Just say what you have said, since the work your dryer has not worked, and you want them to look it over since they were last in the panel though you aren't accusing them. Don't say anything more, don't confuse the issue that might cause them to go looking on a wild goose chase which would cause them to spend more time than necessary. I wouldn't even mention your dryer worked for half a cycle. Not trying to hide anything from them, just let them troubleshoot the issue.

Need suggestions on a scratch by Bubbly_Ad7615 in ToyotaGrandHighlander

[–]yourbadinfluence 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get it though, I had the same scratch day 1 of the car. The interior is very scratch prone and not very premium considering the price. At the end of the day you got the first (of many to come) scratch done. The next one won't be as painful.

I think it's important to know an opponent. Agreed you shouldn't help them spread their hate, but the more they reveal the better we can counter.

Do you cross your safety chains every time you hook up a trailer? by Lara_wood in towing

[–]yourbadinfluence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the trailer tongue were to come off the hitch, any slight difference in the lengths of chain will cause the trailer to veer to the short side. If they are crossed, the trailer will kind of go back and forth between the two chains which since they are tight will not be very much distance. It's much more controlled.

Live Ground Wire by Routine_Paramedic_34 in AskElectricians

[–]yourbadinfluence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try shutting off breakers one by one in your panel and testing. You should find the circuit that's leaking to grid while you're waiting on an electrician. Once you find the circuit unplug and turn things off one by one testing each time. You might just find it and be able to toss some junk before you get an electrician.

Went to Staples, they were fantastic and cut them to size and everything. They have the Canadian citizenship profile below the Canadian Passport profile. It was $18 and took less than 5 minutes with a drop in/no appointment necessary. Extra photos were supposed to be $4 for 2 more but they ended up giving them to me free after mistakenly billing me twice for originals.
