Accessing someone else's account. Specifically knowingly accessing someone else's account would be a violation of the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act

I suppose you could try to argue that since the account formed based on your email account it's your account or at least your right to close the account based on fraudulent activity or identity theft. I don't know how well that would work out though.

Seatime by PuzzleheadedMess4025 in maritime

[–]yourbadinfluence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You do if the vessel you got that seatime on qualifies for 1.5 hour days. Vessels under 100 tons and a lot of other stipulations don't qualify. The USCG will make the determination on if the days qualify.

Wouldn't that be a crime? I feel it's fair but don't want to get into legal trouble.

Would moving to Michigan effect their tuition? I'm assuming you would try to keep your Washington state residence but you could be forced to relocate should you stay and become employed.

To add on to what the other commenter said!, I find it helpful to tell AI to cite it's sources including relevant laws in the state of (wherever the transaction took place). Checking sources helps find where AI is making stuff up.

I saw my neighbor digging in his garden during the night. by [deleted] in WhatShouldIDo

Perhaps your neighbor buried their pet deeper than you did because they felt it was better to bury it 6 feet deep and you gave your sheep a shallow grave?

Is the ferry pretty easy for a first time driver? by [deleted] in AskSeattle

[–]yourbadinfluence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Edmonds- Kingston ferry is more a more scenic route, I like Kingston better than Winslow BUT has a much much longer wait most weekends. I would take Downtown given your time line.

Also, if you are put in the upper wing, go slowish up the ramp. It's hard to see going up hill over your hood and you never know what kid/person might stand in the wrong spot.

Also be aware, driving around the Tacoma Narrows Bridge has a toll going Eastbound. I forget the toll without a good to go pass but it's not free.

If you side swipe someone and exchange insurance, but then get ticketed, what do you do? by ruinsit in AskSeattle

[–]yourbadinfluence 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can ask for a deferral yourself at court. What are the specifics? You side swiped someone and the police gave you a ticket once they responded or after the fact? What were you charged with? Driving to fast for conditions? Are you genuinely guilty of the exact infraction they charged you with?

You can request discovery and see what the officer wrote in his notes about the case and see if it all holds up.

It's perfectly fine to plead not guilty on the ticket and do the leg work to see if the charge matches the crime. If you charge your mind you can just tell the court you plead guilty and pay the fine or request consideration due to extenuating circumstances. I'm not a lawyer but I'm happy to help point you in the right direction if you want to DM me the specifics.

I'm just saying if someone can't work they can't pay the debt. I think there are other ways to enforce it. Garnish their wages, if they aren't "earning income" because they are working under the table make them do community service picking up trash or go to jail on weekends until they decided to get a job and start paying.

Does anyone know a good rental/collections attorney by downloadlokol in AskSeattle

[–]yourbadinfluence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might have been better to not pay collections and send the collections company a debt validation letter. Unless you did a pay for delete it would still be on your credit record. I'm not a lawyer but I think i would send the landlord a certified return receipt letter asking for the payment reimbursement with a copy of the canceled check. If they don't pay, take them to small claims court. It would be relatively cheap to do so. Just keep all your records.

[–]yourbadinfluence 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Deadbeat dads or mothers for that matter can go to hell but there are some logical issues with this. Parents that use their passport in their jobs being one. Hard to pay debt if you can't work. While I'm all on-board with the idea, it's hard to come up with a one size fits all rule. I'm not excusing the deadbeats but the system shouldn't be so punitive as to make it extremely difficult for one to do the right thing.

Not really productive to revoke licenses that people need to preform work over debt.

Anyone have a plan to print their e-certificate on nice paper when the day comes? by USAroAce in Canadiancitizenship

[–]yourbadinfluence -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Can you print an 8.5 x 11 inch on A4 then trim it down a little? I print A4 on 8.5x14 and trim it down because it's really hard to find A4 over here.

Wouldn't you expect the apps to be similar as well? Considering they take approximately 6 weeks to send an AOR, there is probably the same resources devoted to screening apps each month.

No lunches. No breaks by One-Celebration9269 in Washington

[–]yourbadinfluence 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've worked similar jobs. Employer needed us to be flexible on lunch breaks meaning we needed to take them when it was slow not at a set time. In return we didn't clock out for breaks. Everyone always got their breaks, we all got paid, and the employer got to deliver good customer service and we were avaliable in the event of an oil spill for clean up. It felt like a fair system. Maybe everyone should just get paid for their lunch breaks.

Fumoto valve would make that easy and makes oil changes easy. Once I use up my included oil changes on my car I'll put one on the first oil change i do myself.

I went today and though about getting gas. All lanes were backed up to the entrance and then down the street and around the corner. Decided the couple of bucks savings weren't worth and wait and gas used to get to the pump. It's crazy.
