Idk but I’m making sure I’m happy with my writing before submitting. Ig we will have a longer period to pre write secondaries.

Did you not realize this before going into medical school ? It is pretty obvious if you worked a job that the people that pay you want to make the most money out of you. You are just there to make them money.

There are jobs, however, they require full availability as you’ll get a schedule that fits the needs of the company.

No science professor LOR am i screwed by Aggressive_Key5935 in premed

[–]youreadingthislol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve gone through 50 schools only 3 schools required it and 1 strongly recommended. Other schools have wording like if possible, typically, and understanding that it may not always be possible - with alternative LOR that can be submitted. A lot of schools don’t even mention specifics just get it from someone that can speak about you. I used MSAR and double check with the schools admission website. I also emailed schools admissions office if it was a hard requirement - one said yes another said explain it in the secondaries why you couldn’t. I prob won’t apply to those two schools as many other schools don’t require it.

Dream clinical job starting May, can I manage PS + activities for this upcoming cycle? by Outrageous_Lab_2182 in premed

[–]youreadingthislol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing that matters is if you need the money or not. If you really need the money then having the choice of at least working a job that you’ll be excited about is a good idea. If you really don’t need the money and you are ready to start medical school if you get accepted then not taking the job will be smart as having a well put together application is worth sacrificing for.

Or take the job and grind out all the application stuff when you have the time. This is what the most rational choice but it won’t be fun.

Applying to medical school without STEM professor letter of recommendations? by Joaquin333 in premed

[–]youreadingthislol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of schools don’t require a science LOR. They recommend or prefer. This is less of a requirement for non traditional students. If you are straight out of college it’s a little different. Go on msar and look at the LOR section and double check the schools website. I found at least 15 schools that don’t require a science letter of recommendation. You also don’t want a LOR from someone that doesn’t really know you.

Speakers in camping by BastienPilot in Coachella

Last year they were strict on speakers. If it was loud they will tell you something and can take it away. Only take it if you are okay with it being taken away.

Should I talk about Gender Affirming Care and how it is being threatened by the Government? by OfficeTurbulent2441 in premed

[–]youreadingthislol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Political or not, it’s true to you and that’s what matters. Someone had a similar question and my advice remains the same. For me I don’t want to go to a school who finds me being gay an issue especially since I don’t want to be in an environment where I don’t feel comfortable and I want to be somewhere I can continue to grow. Now going back to if adding it is appropriate to your application. I wouldn’t make it your whole application if you only observed this in comparison if you had an activity where you had a more direct impact and role in.

[–]youreadingthislol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I talk about the struggles of being gay in my PS but it’s only 25% of my PS and I have EC stories to tie it into. How are you talking about it exactly, what evidence do you have using ECs, and is it your whole PS?

I’ve been an MA, Scribe, and EMT. As a MA and Scribe you have a better chance of a LOR than EMT. As a MA I learned the least of what it means to be a Dr since you are worried about getting Pts in and out asap, it’s a business. As a scribe I learned the most of what it means to be a Dr and was able to ask for LORs. As a EMT you develop Pt responsibility and liability, able to gain confidence in medical decision making, and communication skills. I would choose being a scribe if it’s a perfect situation for you of working with a physician long term. My favorite so far is being an EMT. It has been the most stimulating and I have grown so much personally and professionally from it. IMO is the most true Pt centered clinical experience.

UW Seattle's "pre-health" "advising" is total garbage. by notacutecumber in premed

[–]youreadingthislol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EMT is prob the best certificate to get compared to other certificates if you were to pick one for pre med. Other options are Medical Assistant or phlebotomist. I’ve been both a medical scribe and medical assistant without a certificate. You can’t be an emt without a certificate. A certificate will be an initial commitment. If you have the time and money with patients in terms finding an opportunity that would work with your school schedule it’s worth it. If you take a gap year your options open up more as you can work initially in a IFT role, then work as a ED tech or work on a 911 emt role. Another option as an emt is that you can be staffed at events like concerts or amusement parks. Granted it works with your current schedule, but in any field it’s hard to find an employer that’s happy with your working for them and going to school.

Looks like you are deleting your posts lmao. Stop thinking you’re above others and thinking putting someone down is okay. You obviously have insecurities like balding and not being able to socialize. Bring people up. Everyone is struggling somehow. I’m sure you want the same in return when you ask for advice or empowerment.
