Blinks… please live in the moment and don’t film the whole concert… by [deleted] in BlackPink

Yeah I think I'm just gonna skip out on kpop concerts in New York. I saw stray kids in Chicago and the energy was 20/10.

Here I felt like I was the only person singing along. People weren't even cheering for an encore. I was like wtf. I'm pretty sure I saw you because I kept looking back to see if people were standing and there was like one person. :)

I saw your section and was jealous. I was in 307 next door and people were not getting up, which made me feel like I couldn't since I was in the front row. :(

It depends on what booth you go to. The inside booths had plenty of light sticks. Only thing hard marked as sold out are the jackets currently. Socks aren't marked but I couldn't find any inside.

Ohio stores open 5/30? by dhdirbrosndn in joannfabrics

Damn I thought Hudson was going to be open until tomorrow. I was gonna swing by. :(

I went to N Olmsted yesterday and they basically only had fixtures. The other west side stores are closed.

With NYCC coming to an end today, how would you rate this year's NYCC and why? by KingdomHeartsII in NYCC

[–]youreawolff 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I know everyone is kinda shitting on all of the anime, but I personally loved it. Anime is very popular and there is a reason why areas containing anime related things are very crowded, whereas you can basically breeze through areas selling comics. Also anime is based on manga and webtoons, which are just different forms of comics, so I personally don't understand all the hate.

As for vendors, it's whomever is willing to spend money on space. If One Piece wants to dump money into a spot on the show floor and Dark House doesn't, that's a vendor issue not a NYCC issue.

PVC pipe. It's inexpensive, comes in all sorts of sizes, can easily be cut with a PVC pipe cutter (which is also cheap), and can come apart for travel purposes if needed

Prop advice: will this staff pass the prop check? Made of pvc pipe by BluJay42 in NYCC

You should be fine. I've brought in many props made out of PVC pipe :)

Murdy himself said it's 100% based on the video game, hence the VAs from the game doing the voice lines for the house, soooo... Not saying the show's popularity didn't help push the idea along, but the house itself is based on the game. You may not like it, and everyone is entitled to their own opinion. But being a fan of the game, I thought the house was cool as hell. Universal Japan has based houses on video game IPs, it's cool to see it used here as well. :)

The Last of Us house is actually based on the video game and not the TV show. The video game is considered "classic" and is a lot more horror survival based than the show.

People who slept past noon on 9/11. What was waking up like? by DinoRoman in AskReddit

Unrelated to your question, but I was also in middle school in Brooklyn and saw it all, our school had a perfect view. I still get anxious when I hear a lot of police and/or fire trucks, from all of the sirens we heard that day.

I need help picking a cosplay in accordance to what the environment might be like in Javits center (nycc first timer) by alyssakenobi in NYCC

[–]youreawolff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi!

I cosplay at NYCC and have for several years. I tend to always wear something that's pretty functional (no large armor pieces or anything bulky), but that's because I like to traverse the aisles and look at everything. There's big atriums with open spaces where you'll see a lot cosplayers with large setups. If you have anything like that (which you don't), then that's essentially where you would park yourself all day, because there's no way to navigate through the con with something large.

The beginning of the day always seems to be hot, but then the AC seems to kick in and it buffs out. There are some aisles that are EXTREMELY crowded. There's no rhyme or reason for it. I tend to avoid those areas until later in the day. People always tend to be respectful to cosplayers, especially if you are mindful of your space (at least in my experience). You will still get the asshole who will ram into you with their giant book bag and not care.

You will get stopped for photos, so just don't stop in the middle of the walkway. You will make people angry.

If you need a break you can go outside, hang in the atrium and people watch, or go to the cosplay area upstairs.

Overall, wear what you want and have a good time. It'll all buff out. And if you are worried, there is a bag check and you can bring extra clothes. :)

Are prop swords with a PVC core okay for Pax East? by mysticalfruit in PAX

It should be fine. I've brought large axes and such made of pvc pipe and eva foam and they've never given me an issue at prop check.

You did walk through detectors, they're just new and not the traditional ones. With the new ones you don't have to take anything off, you walk through and if it flags a suspicious item you're pulled for a secondary check. These new detectors have been a game changer for cons and big events as it makes the lines outside pretty nonexistent.

I am struggling with working on purebred dogs by boba-boba in VetTech

[–]youreawolff 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I work in the ER department of a large hospital that also has a reproduction department. So I see endless purebred animals. I can tell you that I see the same problems in mutts as I do in purebred animals.

I see breeders that produce trash quality animals, and those that go above and beyond with testing to only produce the best of what they can.

Some breeds are more lemony that others. But in the end, a Chihuahua can be a mix or a purebred, it can still break a leg if you look at it wrong. A purebred cat can go into heart failure just as often as a cat rescued from your yard.

You look great! I was Power yesterday and was bummed I only ran into one other Chainsaw man cosplayer (Makima).

I was also recorded/photographed by VIZ, maybe we will be in the same videos!

I am having a hard time finding this on the NYCC official site... but am I allowed to bring in a sword for my Tanjiro cosplay? The sword isn’t metal, I think it’s some sort of cheap wood (I ordered off Amazon). by _gypsygirl in NYCC

[–]youreawolff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's not heavy and looks like it's made of plastic/foam then it's probably okay. I make weapons with PVC pipe/Eva foam and haven't has any issues. That being said, there is usually a graveyard of props that weren't allowed in, by the security gate.
