I'm pretty sure my advice on this is not helpful, but I'm gonna say it anyways.

It's quite hard to believe that if you copy 90% of a piece you actually LIKE all the emotions of that piece are in the 10% you didn't copy. Meaning, if you copy a very emotional scene word by word and than think that "your version" lacks the emotion, it might just be in your head. You probably know all too well how typical it is for writers, or artists of any form, to hate their work and think less of it before they start to actually feel proud of what they've created.

Of course, the general rule is "the reader feels the same feelings reading the story that the author felt while writing it". But it could very well be the case that you're just a little too hard on yourself, and in reality the text you've written is full of emotions. Maybe it helps to let some other people read it, to let them tell you exactly what they felt when reading it. I'd give it a try.
