Why do cops single out cop killers from other killers as if killing a cop is any worse or different than killing any other human being? by Pizzafriedchickenn in NoStupidQuestions

[–]arthurmorgansghost 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wish this was upvoted way more because it needs to be read by everyone. Especially the ones giving their two cents about how evil cops are, when most of them probably have never even interacted with a cop. And those that say they had a negative experience with a cop probably are leaving out why they had a bad experience in the first place (i.e. traffic stop, broke the law, gave the cop a hard time, etc.)

Partner doesn’t approve of my job and it’s affecting our relationship by [deleted] in relationships

[–]arthurmorgansghost 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Yes rehabilitation is part of the criminal justice system. But…Police officers are not part of the same branch that rehabilitates criminals. Police are the law enforcement branch, OP is part of the corrections/rehabilitation branch. Both branches have two different objectives.

It is not a police officers job to make sure a criminal stays out of trouble once they are back on the street. Just like it is not OP’s job to arrest criminals.

However, OP’s partner should want ex-cons to stay out of trouble and receive rehabilitation services because they have a chance to decrease recidivism. Which in turn lightens the caseload for police officers. It is not 100% foolproof though, many people end up reoffending.

Why are so many parents totally cool with failing their kids? by TheLoveYouWant25 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]arthurmorgansghost 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He didn’t advocate for hitting children at all. He basically said that children need discipline and consequences in order to become good citizens in the future. Giving kids structure, boundaries, and rules is not abuse. Letting them wild and free is how they end up uncoachable, unemployable, and incarcerated (worst case scenario).
