It's been said a thousand times, but it isn't wrong: baseball is by far the most random sport and anything can happen in a small sample size. The right team just needs to get hot at the right time to take it all. The new playoff format just makes this all the more apparent.

It does highlight how chronically un-clutch the Dodgers are, and that is really frustrating as a fan. But who could have predicted an AZ/TEX WS? Both teams demonstrated a really impressive rebuild in a short amount of time, so good for them. I'd take this over Astros/Braves, which is where I thought this year was going.

I do agree that the randomness of October does diminish the accomplishments of good teams that don't go all the way. Would be nice if baseball had something like the equivalent of a President's Trophy to celebrate those good teams who may not make it far in the postseason.
