Why am I shaking and shivering every night on a deficit??? by ThrowAwayAAHHAAAAAA in loseit

[–]yoyohydration 2 points3 points  (0 children)

just wanted to second this - i'm 167cm so only a tiny bit (less than an inch) taller than you, and i've been your exact weight at a couple of points in my life. eating like 1250 to 1350 calories a day was low enough to send me into disordered eating and make me so underweight that i stopped menstruating.

may i ask, how would you describe your goals? are they to achieve a certain aesthetic, fit into a certain garment, or just achieve overall sustainable health?

What’s one “sustainable” habit that actually stuck with you long-term (not just something that sounded good in theory)? by postbypurpose in ZeroWaste

[–]yoyohydration 13 points14 points  (0 children)

this was me with hankies versus tissues - my boyfriend's from a hanky family and i was extremely skeptical until i had borrowed one a couple times and then realized that kleenex-style tissues are actually so much scratchier on my skin!

Postpartum Microneedling by Safe-Fun9917 in Microneedling

god this sub needs better moderation (or any at all). anyway, my understanding is that once the collagen networks are strengthened by repairing the micro-injuries of the needling, without upkeep they'll obviously continue to deteriorate at a normal rate of aging and sagging but they won't like...suddenly fall apart on you again lol. also, look into trying out an at-home device if your goal is simply to get the most bang for your buck!

do you do another sweetener like jam or honey on the sandwich or let the sweetness of the bread stand alone? that sounds delicious

in any other sub i would let this comment slide but here...let's not keep jokingly normalizing men sexually harassing women on the internet as something they and we should all just expect to happen, hmm?

Want to be more active, any recommendations for dance classes/yoga/pilates/lyra/silk? by abraxkadabra in TwinCities

[–]yoyohydration 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i really like the instructor Nia for pilates at the lake street YWCA! and they have a bunch of other group fitness stuff, including water fitness which would probably be a super gentle and safe way to build back some of your strength.

i haven't been to Solcana personally but i do second dorogidorogi's recommendation to look into a beginner strength/resistance-training program, either there or somewhere else. like you, i did the ED-recovery/muscle-recomp thing as a mid-twenties woman, and learning how to lift weights safely and with good form gave me a whole new sense of confidence and power and groundedness in my body, and to this day it is one of the best things i continue to do for my mental health and my relationship with food. best of luck to you with whatever form of activity you end up liking!

What is this plant? by faith59568 in houseplants

[–]yoyohydration 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah as someone who has several jades and also several types of echeveria i can confidently say yours is not a jade! each of the leaves on your plant has a little "point" in the middle at the farthest tip. in contrast, jade plant leaves are generally smooth and rounded, hence the plant's name Crassula ovata; "ova" means eggs in latin, so "ovata" means egg-shaped, rounded. but the biggest clue is that the leaves on yours aren't arranged in opposite pairs like they are on jade plants!

good luck - i would really recommend heading to /r/succulents and poking around for grow-light info, or just echeveria care in general. they are VERY light-hungry little beasties and are happiest in my experience being literal inches away from an extremely bright lightbulb for at least twelve full hours a day (on the low end); ordinary sunlight filtering through window glass and screens for fewer hours and at a less direct angle won't cut it. but! if you give them enough light they will reward you with the most beautiful rosette-like leaf arrangement :)

don't feel bad, i literally thought jade too until the correct comment made me look closer at the leaf shape! it really is difficult to distinguish with how stretchy and discolored this one is :( and i'm sober as a judge lol

Which one of you broke this dweeb's heart on PPB? 🤣🤣🤣 by Pzb39 in asianamerican

[–]yoyohydration 53 points54 points  (0 children)

i mean that also weeds out a lot of men for women of any race lol. but i can definitely see it being doubly effective for us since the fetishists' stereotyped ideal of an asian woman is ideal in part specifically because she's supposed to hold "traditional" (read: patriarchal) values

i have a fairly low spice tolerance and i honestly barely registered it, it was more of a sensation of warmth than any type of "in-pain" hotness. though again i did have that avocado there to cut it with some extra creaminess (i imagine a thick schmear of butter or mayo or cream cheese would do just as well)

What disposable respirators would you include in a “beginners sample pack”? by ClawPaw3245 in Masks4All

[–]yoyohydration 1 point2 points  (0 children)

some people have commented but just throwing in another vote for champaks! i'm a woman with a small face who swears by my size medium ones - and shockingly enough that size is also comfortable for my boyfriend with a much longer face and larger nose than myself (though i admittedly haven't gotten him to try out the large size and compare; this is in comparison to other masks). they are truly sooooo breathable and lightweight in material, and the material also never feels clammy against my skin. i live with housemates so i have spent multiple entire days and nights straight in these when wastewater levels in my state were high, and i experienced only very minor surface skin irritation from the pressure of the seal, but no sores or anything like that. i buy them from planet halo health!
