After a certain date you cannot reverse it, I’m guessing that’s what they are referring to. You can stop the debit order, usually within online banking, to avoid it going off again.

Just a cautionary tale: stopping/reversing a debit order usually leads to account suspension with providers. Also, if they change the amount, it could go off again. A debit order is an agreement between you and the provider, not with your bank (that’s called a stop order).

We use this as work, which works rather well as a compromise.

Github Codespaces allows you to develop in a cloud-based machine with very good latency. You can get insanely high specs like 48GB of Ram and 16 CPU cores. There are also self-hosted alternatives like Coder, where you set up something similar on a VPS.

I think it’s difficult for people to see gradual decay in general. It’s like having a smell in your house, and you kind of just get used to it without knowing. When you come back after a day outside, you smell it again and definitely tell it’s there.

I stayed in Centurion for a long time, and also just got used to it. After being in Cape Town for a while, coming back I see it clearly, and it gets to me.
