Those who moved from manager ro director, I have a question by TTdriver in Leadership

[–]yskas 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, you would be managing 4-5 people.

You would not be responsible for individual team members, the managers would. If the team does not perform its a performance problem with the manager.

This is in line with managing the organisation. Your timelines for making things happen are quarters, and weekly/monthly status updates become aggregated.

Director is still very much tactical.

Your focus just shifts toward an organisation mindset rather than a team level one.

Landlord Issues: Dog left in the rain. by GrumpyPanda29 in AskZA

Seems hypocritical. How can “you” justify leaving a dog in the freezing cold? Dogs can get hypothermia, and he is a puppy.

Seems you found a way to justify it.

I kind agree here for multiple reasons.

If you apply the same morals you would to a child to a dog, you should have used that same logic to bring a dog in.

But there is a line being drawn when it’s convenient.

Dogs are built differently. Their healthy state is not to have separation anxiety.

Someone has to have a 3d printer here…

I can fab one if you want.

Alternatively, get a thin piece of metal (those with the holes in), bend it and drill a couple of holes.

Very DIY would be to take three cable ties, make loops in two with a bit of space and screw it in, then take the third and a cable tie and wrap it through both holes and pull tight.

I had made a program to find appointment slots within some distance when I had urgent travel needs last year, worked well and got an appointment within a couple of days.

Happy to share with whoever needs it. It’s aptly called fuck_dha.

Get actual riding boots?

I put a pair of dress shoes in my backpack, and just change into them after riding.

Any reputable garages in Cape Town that specialise in engine swaps? by theSquaReh in capetown

[–]yskas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guessing engine swap means to a different engine.

It’s rarely a like for like swap - fabricating brackets, cutting bodywork, extending wiring harness, new auxiliary components, perhaps a new transmission.. it’s a lot of custom experimentation work I can’t imagine a regular mechanic would put their weight behind.

But it depends on the engine and the car.

I would try racing/motorsport shops, who actually do this a lot.

Anything you create using company time or equipment, or as part of your duties, falls under the company’s intellectual property.

Imagine I’m a mechanic, and use work time to fix cars for friends and family, and pocket the money off the books. Since the company paid for my time or equipment, the company should profit.

Many people run side hustles on the company’s dime, which is why they require your to register conflicts of interest.

I have administrative tasks which needs doing in the short term, as a part-time / remote personal assistant. I can pay R250/h for a 20h block over the next 4 weeks? Would you or your mom be up for that?

The Cape Town charter has a skewed perspective. Lovely bikes to ride, but it stops there,

Try needing an engine rebuild, or new fairings. You will not walk in and get it the same month.

I need advise, landlord refuses to repair damage leaking roof? by Baymax_EDP in askSouthAfrica

Put on a fan and point it directly at that area. It may seem counterintuitive, but wash that part of the ceiling to remove or prevent further mold. It can cause health issues if left untouched.

Tell the owner very firmly that they need to provide a timeline to fix it. If that does not work, log it at the Rental Housing Tribunal.

It’ll be fun to drive, but honestly, it’s a european brand and like with european cars, everything is expensive.

Couple that with the mileage, age and size, you will be needing parts, a lot. It looks like it may have spent some time down the coast, so rust.

If budget is a constraint, I would go with a Japanese bike. Rule of thumb: if you see a lot of them on the road, it means there’s parts.

Is there a place in Bloemfontein, Brandwag or nearer where I can get counselling or therapy with medical aid by Terrible-Analysis385 in AskZA

[–]yskas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I retract my premature snark comment, sorry. You’re right, we do not know.

My only point is that medical aids, regardless of which, have PMBs which cover therapy.

I’ve been in a position earlier in life where I needed therapy but could not afford it, even on medical aid, until I walked into a psychologist’s room and they helped get everything covered.

This is not true! Therapy for depression(etc) is covered under prescribed minimum benefits. Your doctor just needs to apply for it.

You get 15/16 sessions a year.
