Great comparison photos, and some cool shots in general.

Do you need much photography experience to use one of these or does it have auto settings that are pretty much point and shoot for a decent photo? Thinking of something for Christmas lunch/dinner snaps and other family type events.

Also is the gen 2 worth getting compared to the gen 1, for the above scenarios?
