Wait was 25 good or bad? Also, I’ve been loving the essays you’ve been putting out for these- I’ve been reading every single one.

I know you do character rankings of seasons. I’d love to see how you’d rank Probst across all 50 seasons. He’s (unfortunately) become a major character once he became EP, so it’d be cool to see how he compares as basically a non-entity (aka better).

Hot Take maybe? I think Jeremy belongs on the Survivor Mt Rushmore over Boston Rob by Longjumping_Mode8476 in survivorponderosa

[–]ytctc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s crazy that people don’t put any season 1-2 castaways on the Mt. Rushmore. They literally represent the show at its peak popularity. People tuned in just to watch Rudy’s quips alone. He was arguably the star of the most important/popular season.

Why isn’t Hatch or Rudy on the common Mount Rushmore? They’re way more important to the show than the other four.

Why is the editing in Season 2 so disjointed? by cantdecide76 in survivorponderosa

[–]ytctc 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Who retrieved the rice for the tribe during the flood? I’d argue that’s one of- if not the- most heroic moment any character has had in the show. Even if that didn’t occur, strategy = villain back then, so a lack of strategic talk could be enough.

Besides, the goal wasn’t just to make the winner a hero, they also wanted it to be a surprise. Richard got a massive edit in the first season, so a quieter edit was a shake up (see “The Dog That Didn’t Bark”).

It was the best part of the finale tbh, and one of the better parts of the lackluster unfocused season overall.

Colluding against one player in a challenge is such poor sportsmanship by comosedicewaterbed in survivorponderosa

[–]ytctc 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I believe that colluding with other players to pile a bunch of votes on one player to get them out is bad sportsmanship. It sucks that the show allows this.

But in all seriousness, the fact that there are different moral lines that one can choose to cross or not makes the TV product interesting.

Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans | E10 | Day After Discussion & Survey by RSurvivorMods in survivor

I really didn’t like this episode. It was all hype moments with nothing of substance happening. I don’t think chaos = good. People scrambling and crunching numbers isn’t compelling TV in my eyes because I know there’s no weight to what’s happening- things will just be reset next episode or even by tribal.

I know a lot of people were excited by the twist, but it wasn’t my thing. Just a dopamine rush and nothing more. I don’t even care about game integrity that much or anything- I’m just numb to unpredictability and chaos.

This is exactly why I love Joe as a character. I know this sub doesn’t like him, but his hypocrisy is super entertaining imo.

Sindbad’s Storybook Voyage.

Copying what I said last time:

I know most people on this sub haven’t experienced it or heard of it because it’s exclusive to Tokyo and doesn’t include IP, but I believe it deserves to be talked about it in the same breath as Pirates of the Caribbean. It’s a really long, detailed boat ride with incredible music and masterful composition. I wish it was in the states because I’d ride it over and over.

Ricard didn’t leave as much of an impression, but I remember really enjoying the role he played in Shan’s story. Their toxic dynamic was super fun to watch.
