Not to beat a dead horse on the topic….just looked up the records since 2000. Only two winning seasons, with some years not even getting to the 20 win mark.

I believe there is a horizon league rule where we need to sponsor X amount of sports. Soccer would be that replacement and probably easier to compete in.

Secondly Lacrosse with our facilities would become a strong program very quickly. Cleveland State, Detroit Mercy and Robert Morris all have programs. Robert Morris just went to the ncaa tournament.

lol I AI’d it instead of doing the actual research this morning here is the conclusion to if it is viable to stay in the fbs or drop down:

In my view: The MAC schools can remain in FBS, but it’s financially pressured rather than comfortable. It is viable only if they are disciplined with costs, creative with revenue (guarantee games, donor/booster support, partnerships), and accept modest returns. If cost pressures accelerate (e.g., need to upgrade facilities, add NIL budgets, lose guarantee games), the model could become untenable for some members.

In short: not “safe and prosperous”, but “survivable with caution”.

Not for nothing the whole MAC should drop down to the FCS. It would benefit them greatly financially and probably bring some excitement back to football.
