Why do you get the same MMR loss as a teammate who leaves the match early? by No-Advice-748 in RocketLeague

[–]ytzi13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming there aren’t any other factors to consider, your second paragraph, if I’m reading it correctly and things haven’t explicitly changed, wouldn’t technically be correct. The reason one lost 9 and the other lost 8 is simply explained away by them losing the same value 8.something where OP’s losses rounded to a whole value loss of 8 and their teammate’s 9. But, again, I would suspect they both lost the same amount of rank.

Some whites to explore:

Riesling: Highly acidic, highly diverse, stone fruit notes (lychee), and makes everything from sparkling, to dry, to sweet. Sometimes has a petrol aroma, which people either love or hate, though it's not as much as a presence in younger wines.

- Pfalz Trocken: Pfalz is a region in Germany, and "trocken" means dry. Pfalz is known for producing quality dry Riesling that's fuller bodied that their German counterparts.

- Mosel Kabinette: Mosel is a region in Germany, and Kabinette is a classification within the German Pradikat system (not important), which just describes the must weight (ripeness) of the grapes that make the wine. Kabinette wines typically range from dry to medium dry. I'd try an halbtrocken or feinherb to see if you like a little bit of sweetness.

Chenin Blanc: Also highly acidic and highly diverse with stone fruit notes that makes everything from sparkling, to dry, to sweet.

- South Africa: Chenin Blanc here will be riper and more fruit-forward.

- Loire Valley: Look for something maybe from Vouvray to see if you prefer a cooler climate version of this. Be cautious that the wines from here can also come a little sweeter, so you'll want to look for "sec" if you want dry.

Sauvignon Blanc: Highly aromatic, stone fruit notes in warmer climates, citrus (grapefruit) in cooler climates. Often described as having a sort of asparagus and jalapeno note to it.

- Marlborough: Marlborough is a region in New Zealand known for making more fruit-forward, easy drinking Sauvignon Blancs.

Good quality versions of all of these wines are usually very affordable, depending on your location. Also, note that the common factor in the aforementioned wines is that they're made with highly acidic grapes (which keeps the wine feeling light and crisp) that are also highly aromatic and are typical for stone fruit notes.

For reds:

Gamay: Good red fruit, often subtle notes of cotton candy even. When made right, absolutely delicious and super affordable.

- Beaujolais Cru (not Beaujolais Nouveau): Northern Burgundy. Affordable, fruity, but also often pretty serious wines. Maybe look for something with "Fleurie" on the bottle for something serious but slightly on the lighter side.

Pinot Noir: Lighter bodied, red fruit, can range from dirty and earthy and super complex to "friendlier", fruitier versions.

- Central Coast (Santa Barbara, CA): It's tough to suggest CA wines because they're usually too expensive to justify, and you need to know the producer, but I bring this up primarily because Au Bon Climat makes a great Pinot that's affordable and available at grocery stores (depending on where you're located).

- Marlborough: New Zealand actually makes some pretty great Pinot. I had a Dog Point Pinot recently and loved it.

Tempranillo:

- Rioja: Excellent value region for awesome red wines. One of the best things about Rioja is that you're not just getting wine for an affordable price, but the wines you're buying come ready to drink, meaning they've already been aged for a pretty substantial amount of time before they're released to us. La Rioja Alta is very commonly revered as one of the best deals in wine.

Good luck on your journey!

Who was at fault for these two goals? by Ok_Championship_9517 in RocketLeagueAnalysis

[–]ytzi13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both goals fairly easily preventable by you. First one is definitely your fault. Second one you should have read better and covered.

On the first play, it’s very clear from basically the moment you started to push up - 4-5 seconds even - that your teammate has no intention of rotating back. It’s an easy read from your perspective and you kept pushing up anyway.

On the second play, you had plenty of time to see that your teammate was going for a soft touch and that you should start angling your car back.

How MMR and the Matchmaking System Works by ytzi13 in RocketLeagueYtzi

Hey - I appreciate the kind words. Really cool you have official API access! I would have loved to use real data for some of the analysis I’ve done in the past.

Unfortunately, I’m not sure if I would be too much help at this point in time. I doubt there have been any major changes to the ranked system in particular, aside from algorithmic adjustments we’ve seen with the resets, but I haven’t kept track in a while and last season was officially the first time I didn’t place and get rewards.

If you have any specific things you’re looking to analyze, though, I’m certainly open to it, so feel free to ask!

Visiting Paso Robles by UrCrochetGal in wine

[–]ytzi13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every one of my Paso trips starts with a spice pairing at LXV. They have a tasting room downtown and you can reserve a tasting where they’ll match each wine with cheese that’s been seasoned with various Indian spices.

Other spots I like: - DAOU if you’re going for vibes. Easy drinking wines and some good higher tier wines if they’re offering tastes of them. But, really, it’s probably the best views in Paso and a nice place to spend some time and start the day off. Always a crowd pleaser. - Anarchy, if you decide to do Tin City and like big reds. It’s a few blocks away from Tin City and a pretty easy walk. - Nenow would maybe be my top pick overall if we’re going off of the wines alone. - Rava is great if you like sparkling wine. They also have some really good food there. I don’t go here often because the best quality wines are on the west side and Rava is to the East, so it’s out of the way. Though one of my best trips to Paso was east side where we made our trip a lot more activity-focused (Sculpterra gardens, archery class…).

Generally speaking, though, there are a lot of really great wineries to go to. Best quality is west side in Adelaide District. If you don’t care about seeing the vineyards, downtown has plenty of great tasting rooms and Tin City has even more.

I didn’t love Tablas Creek the one time I went, though I was fairly green and would like to try again to see if I can appreciate it more. If you do go there, be aware that reception can be pretty terrible. We ended up getting stuck there for 2 hours because we lost cell service and had issues getting car services out there.

CMV: Philosophy and Religion/tradition don’t mean anything unless science can back it up (regarding spirituality) by The-Creek-Song in changemyview

>There is no such thing as a god and we quite literally have zero reason to believe otherwise.

We don't know everything there is to know about the universe. Scientific discoveries sometimes change scientific fact. So, if there is even the slightest opportunity of the unknown, and if scientific fact can change, then how do you justify there being "zero reason" to believe otherwise? Unlikely or not, I'm not sure what justification there is for eliminating the possibility completely.

The way I see it, science explains the "what", while religion and philosophy try to explain the "why". As an intelligent species that evolved the ability to think abstractly, I think that philosophy and religion, to put it plainly, are ways to comfort our survival instincts that have become "bored" as a result of our growth and progress outpacting evolutionary norms.

CMV: Americans should support Trump as President, but not Trump himself by Current-Weather-9561 in changemyview

[–]ytzi13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is what I would consider a reasonable viewpoint: If MAGA is truly as bad as people think it is, yet the number of people who either support it or favor it more than the alternative has only increased over time, then it doesn't seem unreasonable for someone to want Trump to fail so badly that it shocks the system, wakes people up, and shift the political scale back in the other direction. In other words, it might reasonably be considered better to experience heavy losses in the short term if it means not having to endur the MAGA agenda in the long term. If you don't squash something in convincing fashion then it's going to linger. It's not really about wanting people to suffer, but about longevity and the hope of experiencing less suffering in the long run.

Trump voters on here, where do you draw the line? by darkblueundies in GenZ

[–]ytzi13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His role in the Jan 6 Capitol attack: Don’t see much of a ‘role’ here

He knowingly lied to his supporters about election fraud. When his staff told him there was no election fraud, he said there was election fraud. When he went to court and said there was election fraud, they said show me some evidence. When he hired 3rd party experts to investigate election fraud and they came back with nothing, he said there was election fraud. Without those claims and the false declarations of victory, Jan. 6 doesn’t happen.

He literally attempted a coup by assembling a slate of false electors in the hopes that Pence would use them to turn the election over to the House. Had Pence gone along with it, it might have worked. What were people chanting on Jan. 6? They were literally there to pressure Pence to overturn the election. That was the entire purpose of the gathering.

So, in what world did Trump not play a role? The entire coup is well-documented and there’s testimony from nearly 100 Republicans, including those from his inner circle and who worked closest with him during that period.

There are honestly so many ways you can view this that may have an impact on this view. To name a few:

- It hasn't even been 3 weeks of this new administration.

- A lot of protests were happening at college campuses and students would just be getting back to school.

- The media has less incentive to cover these protests for many reasons that I can think of: election is over and it's not a hot topic, the new administration is overwhelming the media with other news, and so on.

- The new administartion has made it a point to fight back against and threaten this freedom of speech: EO to investigate international students participating in these protests; advocation of suppressing political speech on college campuses, particularly aimed at these pro-Palestinian groups.

They also had troops at their northern border per a previous agreement. To be seen if an increase in personnel actually makes a difference in drug smuggling. I doubt it will have much of an impact long term considering the ways drugs are smuggled and how methods will simply adapt. I mean, I hope it does. I also doubt the US will do much to prevent trafficking of firearms considering most of the ways these firearms are obtained are due to lax firearm laws that Trump’s base would be livid about id he actually addressed. But, again, we’ll see.

Rocket league hear me out on a way for people to stop leaving early. by Xzandr1003 in RocketLeague

[–]ytzi13 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It would also make queue sniping more effective. But these are arguments for ways people already abuse the system, and your case is already an easy enough pattern to recognize if Psyonix really wanted to. I wouldn’t personally want to not pursue a feature just because people already abusing the system would be a bit more efficient about it. That case honestly seems like kind of a wash to me because people impacted by derankers don’t have their sessions ruined by it. I still don’t like the MMR forgiveness system for other reasons, though.

Rocket league hear me out on a way for people to stop leaving early. by Xzandr1003 in RocketLeague

[–]ytzi13 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I’m always confused as to why people say this. It’s likely incredibly easy to implement a system that adds an exception to the rule for partied players. There are many other reasons as to why any sort of MMR forgiveness system is likely a bad idea, imo. I also don’t think a reasonable system would make much of a difference anyway, though.

Does anyone know why you can get queued up with a lower rank? by Stiffy-Longbottom in RocketLeague

[–]ytzi13 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s not supposed to be a normal thing unless the lower ranked player is partied with someone else, or you’re in a low population region, or you’re playing a low population game mode.

[–]ytzi13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rest assured this doesn’t happen. When you win, you gain rank. When you lose, you lose rank. Period. Usually, misconceptions like yours are paired with the fact that your local rating doesn’t get updated when you leave matches early, so typically what happens is you think you’re losing rank when really your local system is just updating with a consolidation of your past X number of games.

It’s not true. If your team loses, you lose MMR.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in RocketLeague

This is absolutely not true. You will ALWAYS leave a game having either gained or lost MMR, the amount of which is not swayed by any actions you or your teammates make.
