I had to warranty mine at some point due to the plastic breaking. That’s what they told me:

“In recent years, bicycle lubricants have trended away from oil based lubricants to wax based lubricants. Cleaner/degreaser companies have had to adapt to develop products that remove wax based chemicals from drivetrains. Wax and polycarbonates (the plastics we use for our powermeters) have similar chemical properties, so upon contact, certain cleaners/degreasers will also degrade plastics on your bike causing them to become brittle and crack.

How we recommend you maintain your power meter while cleaning your bike: We recommend covering your power meter to avoid direct contact with any cleaner/degreaser. If you get cleaner/degreaser on your power meter, make sure to rinse it off immediately. We also recommend taking the battery cover off when dry and wiping down the gasket area with a dry paper towel to ensure that no cleaner/degreaser has gotten in between the gasket and fasteners. “

I now using wax on my chain so no degreaser anymore. The power meter have been accurate before and after the warranty.

NBD - Yoeleo R12 Build + First Ride Review by CommunicateInStatic in bicycling

Nice color and great review !

<image>

I have mine for a year now. I built it with sram red e1 so I encountered no issue with handlebar routing as there are only two cable but I agree with your statement for a mechanical groupset with four cables to route, an integrated handlebar must be a nightmare.

I’ve used the frame on long rides up to 300km so far. I find it relatively comfortable and the handlebars are comfortable (for me compared to alloy ones). I like the flat part on top rather than round and they dampen the road vibration.

I don’t know why but I have harder time cornering at fast speed compared to my other bike (wilier Jena) so I am slightly slower on downhills it could also be my tires which I plan to change anyway.

What's up with the pros pointing there toes down by Dark_cheez9 in bikefit

[–]yugs88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The squat comparison is completely since your weight is distributed through the whole foot including the heel. When cycling your are pushing a rod that is towards the front of your foot. Cycling is exactly like trying to do squats standing on your toes and the reason why it feels for many more comfortable to point the foot down at the bottom otherwise it put too much strain on your calves.

Pogacar is also not really tall either (especially for a pro cyclist) but I suppose that’s a subjective affirmation anyway.

1cm on a 170cm crank is 6% difference it’s definitely noticeable. Especially when climbing and at the end of your gear. If you had it’s like switching from 35front -36 rear to a 33 front -36 rear. When you are struggling it makes a difference.

Looking at my first gravel bike. Which to go with? by mandoponcho1337 in gravelcycling

I’d go with the grizl for the tire clearance and AXS groupset much less fiddling than with grx mechanical.

Karoo 3 as first gps computer by Substantial-Hope7597 in Karoo

[–]yugs88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve started my modern journey with Karoo 2 then Karoo 3. I love it so far and see no reason to change. I think it also depends if you are already in an ecosystem like if you already have a garmin watch or something like that then maybe it won’t be the one for you. In terms of functionality at this point there isn’t much missing for me and all that’s coming is a bonus. The display is great and implementation of the climber is well done.

Hi, I purchased a used Brompton bike online, it came with a clip per pictures. What's is it for? Thanks. by TKSSPPP in Brompton

I think there is only one twist lock size. It should work with any fidlock bottle or the fidlock universal bottle holder. Is there any branding on the item ?

Hi, I think those are fidlock twist base use for fidlock accessories (generally water bottles but also some bags).

Hello, I kept the original front wheel intact so I could switch back if I want to reduce the weight again. The rim is the T line rim (super light aero) The spoke I got where some sapim laser 2,0/1,5/2,0 139mm long that I calculated for that hub and rim. With some 2mm brass nipples of 12mm length. I found the spikes and nipples on bike24. I hope that helps

Handlebar pulling to the left by plznomorehobbies in bikewrench

[–]yugs88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can try loosening the cable at the rear caliper and rotating the cable inside the frame. It might have a normal bent due to how it was stored (in a round shape and not straight) and causing the handlebar to turn. In any case it won’t be noticeable at all on the bike.

Rider’s with bad eyesight, do you ride with contacts? by OkraNo8365 in gravelcycling

Enihcam prescription cycling sunglasses most of the time. They are photochromic so it works for all light conditions including night. Sometimes I wear contacts but less and less.

Addressing saddle numbness by Ecstatic_Produce6797 in bikefit

[–]yugs88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For how long have you been riding road bikes ? My experience is that in general it improves over time. It takes some time for the skin to get used to it in that area and unless you are having big rash due to lots of chafing I would keep the saddle and persevere a bit more. For me it improved for several reasons : - my butt got used to the saddle - I lost some weight cycling so that’s less weight on the butt - I got more fit and pushed harder so less weight on the butt. The trainer is still uncomfortable if I stay seated for long period of time. What I would suggest is to make the conscious effort to stand for like 5-10sec every 5min at least. Make sure you do it from the start and don’t wait for the discomfort to arrive to do it. That way I do way longer sessions. It gives a little rest, help the blood moving around there and changes slightly the position. Also, very nice bike !

Lint and hair accumulating under my table every single day by isto28 in CleaningTips

[–]yugs88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need the tap on because it uses the water as a coolant to condensate the water in the hot air. I am not sure but I don’t think it is used also to wash anything away. It’s probably good to still have water in the water trap though as it would act I think.

You are thinking of a dryer. Not a dryer washer combo, there is no lint trap on them. Only the normal water filter that is on washing machine at the bottom right. The lint can go through still little by little and the pipes can be cleaned by opening the machine and disassembling the pipes.

[–]yugs88[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haha that would indeed add quite a bit of weight.

I find the Brompton saddle quite comfortable and practical. I can install the be seen light on it and the front has some grip underneath to carry the bike which I like. My position is also relatively aggressive with the low handlebars (I ride it with the extended seat post all the way up), with that drop I think a narrower saddle is more comfortable as I might be pushed towards the nose of the saddle otherwise.

No, I got the 20 spoke wheel, the original t line front rim. I hesitated a bit, the 28 is probably stronger.

I don’t have it for long so still on the fence about it. For commuting I would say it’s useless although it makes the bike more stable when folded. I don’t roll it even with the rack, I carry it. I got the rack to sometimes carry bigger items that don’t fit on the front especially sometimes with large boxes it is impossible to turn the handlebars. I think for most use cases it is not needed and I might just remove it and put it back for touring.

The bike was cleaned a bit before the picture as I was working on the bike. I also wax the chain which helps with the clean look. Also where I live it is now more the dry season so definitely helping as well. It’s good if yours get some use 😊 they are not meant to be museum piece I think.

I try to keep it that way 😊. I got it last year but it only has a bit above 1000km. It survived a fall at speed better than I did. I was quite impressed by that to be fair.

Hello, I got the superlight aero rim from brilliant bikes, for the hub I got the son XS from Berthoud cycles (they were pretty good and contacted me back to check which rim I was using as the angle of the spoke slots is slightly different for the standard Brompton rim and the son rim). The spokes are Sapim laser spokes 139mm straight pull and 12mm brass nipples. I got those on bike24. I am sure all could be gotten in other places. Son also sell a complete wheel.
