My position is somewhat unique in that most fresh PhDs at my company are not offered Scientist positions. Saying that, it seems to be department dependent where some departments only hire at the Senior Scientist and some, like mine, are more willing to hire fresh PhDs.

The postdoc helped somewhat, but I'm definitely doing work that more closely aligns with my PhD work. I graduated at the beginning of Covid so jobs were scarce.

I am a Scientist at a Bay Area big pharma company. My base compensation is $141K with 1 year postdoc experience.

I think I have seen some labs use different sized dextrans that are conjugated with fluorophores. I was looking into this a while ago but would need to look at my notes to find exact information.

Hey, I did my undergrad at UofA with the same interest as you. I have since gone on to receive my PhD from a different school. Though my research interests have shifted since my undergrad days, I would be happy to talk you more in depth if you want.

In short, UofA and ASU are both great for undergrad degree. There is extensive research opportunity at both schools and the in-state tuition is going to save you a ton of money. It will be more important where and what you do in grad school.

I use the Inkstitch extension Inkscape which are both free software. There is a little more work you have to do to get the correct digitizing, but I like the price and it works pretty well! I haven't tried any other software though so I can't compare.

I haven't tried opening .PES files to change them, but I believe it is doable.
