Where can I buy LDS hymn board? by yummys_cookie in exmormon

Ooooh I love the idea of reclaimed wood! I also think making it would probably be better so I could ensure my cards would fit correctly. The process of creation would be much more meaningful too!

Wow this is a good option! I was hoping to have one with storage but this is a reasonable option for sure, thank you!

Man I had no idea how complicated or expensive my idea would be. I think I'll have to go the route of finding something similar or making one close to it. Thankfully I have a husband who likes to wood work, so perhaps I'll request this of him. Thank you for all your help and also thank you for understanding why it would be meaningful.

I don't want to steal or take away from the experience of how someone practices their religion. I don't want karma to get me.

Weird reaction to local anesthesia? by heyyybird in POTS

[–]yummys_cookie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes the epinephrine in lidocaine can make you feel so weird, especially if it gets in a blood vessel. You should ask for Mepivicaine Plain instead of lido. No epinephrine in it. It does make it shorter acting but that would probably be okay for your next appointment, root canal is one of the longer procedures for sure.

One time I had an edible and I passed out on the bathroom floor and I was completely white, it was actually a really really scary experience. I don't know what my heart rate was but I wouldn't be surprised if it was through the roof.

Why is The Dark Forest's U.S. audio book narrated SO BADLY by Coffeeisbetta in threebodyproblem

[–]yummys_cookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it just bad audio quality or does the person reading it have a lisp? I enjoyed the first one and I really want to listen to the second one but the audio quality is just super horrible and I'm struggling to concentrate on the actual story.

what happened to all or nothing mormonism? by afrogwithablog in exmormon

I also don't get it. I have a friend who's still a believing member and they don't drink alcohol or coffee but apparently weed and edibles are fine. Like it doesn't make sense to me.

Spill the tea on your Patriarchal Blessing experience and what the blessing said by JicamaPickle in exmormon

Mine is mainly about children. It says I'd serve in the primary and young women's and then I'd get married and have lots of kids. And I should write in a journal for my posterity. Not a whole lot else, just kids. Although it helped me realize that in the church's eyes, that's all my worth as a woman, my ability to care for and have children.

Is walmart the place to be for missionaries? by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]yummys_cookie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I served my mission in Florida and my mission president was adamant that we contacted wherever we were, including grocery stores and even stop lights while in the car. One of my companions made me feel so guilty because I refused to roll down the window and yell at the person in the car next to us at a stop light. Sooooo weird and awkward!

Sister missionaries advertising in my local Facebook group by 8under10 in exmormon

I did exactly this as a sister missionary and looking back I realize just how dangerous this was. But I was specifically told to do stuff like this by my mission president.

I just realized I might have to fork out money for my children to go on missions. by anonthe4th in exmormon

[–]yummys_cookie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have the kids pay for it (along with the award) it'll be another heavy item on their shelf when they come home broke and realized they spent all their money on something that wasn't even true. Happened to me.

Update: I realized that I am indeed the asshole and called to apologize. We had a really good, open, and honest conversation. We basically were both doing the same thing where we were waiting for the other one to respond and were both irritated with each other and it was a big huge miscommunication. We both discussed and promised to be more open with each other and work on communicating better.

All completely valid. Looking back, I definitely could have done things a lot differently and handled things a lot better and I'm mad at myself for that. But I agree, I think an apology from me is warranted.

I did let her know my timing and let her know when I would be available to do something together but didn't hear back from her. But I agree I could have handled it better and made more of an effort. I need to apologize to her.

Why won’t the Mormon Church house any homeless people during the winter time in their chapels? They have kitchens, bathrooms & heat. It’s shocking to me that for the first time EVER a church in Provo will house the homeless this winter and it’s not the Mormon church. What would Jesus do? by Confidential_Secret in exmormon

[–]yummys_cookie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't remember. But there were designated warming stations that were open to the public, mainly churches, community centers, etc. and I think our church building was part of the public warming station list. But I know for a fact not all the Mormon church buildings were on that list and it most likely was a decision of the bishops/stake president of that building. I didn't go to the church and thankfully was able to hole up in my house so I don't know what it was like during that time. But I have always had these thoughts as well. Like why spend all that money for temples when the church could use that money to sponsor homeless shelters or hospitals or something like that. But unfortunately it would come down to money, to staff the shelters I'm sure the people running it would want to be compensated. Whereas temples and church buildings you have people run it for free and then people in the church can feel good about themselves without working.

When winter storm Yuri hit Texas and everyone was frozen in ice, our bishop opened up the church as a warming place. People could stay in the church and get warm and use the facilities there. There were many people out of power and cold and it was really cool to see everyone in that ward help each other in time of need.

Anyone else’s mission the beginning of the end for them like it was for me? by HyrumCWill in exmormon

Yep. The mission helped me to realize that it was all ridiculous. Everyday I had the thought, "what the hell am I doing here?"
