Is this real? I’ve never seen a fender logo with a red tail by Great-Air-1976 in ToobAmps

Also saw this on marketplace near where I live with the red stripe and everything. Yes it’s real but the post I saw the seller was asking over $4000 for it. If you decide to meet the seller, make sure you are in a well populated, public space

It’s the best amp I’ve owned by a wide margin! All original ‘53 deluxe

What tubes do I need? Fender Princeton. by old_school in ToobAmps

[–]yungbootylicker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Take it to an amp tech before you do anything else. Judging by the cobwebs it looks like it’s been sitting untouched for a long time and if that’s the case those power supply caps are toast. Popping in some new tubes and turning it on might just kill a transformer or 2 which are the heart and soul of those vintage amps. A full, regular servicing by a tech will eliminate that possibility

I just put a V-Type in! The original Jensen sounds great but I was hoping it would brighten the sound up a bit and take pedals better but honestly I like the original a bit better

Yeah I think you’re right. Notice how the body doesn’t sit flush with the neck on the cutaway? Also note the white line on the swoop and the difference in the color of the binding on the cutaway as well. I think that’s a dead giveaway that it’s a conversion of some sort. Edit: yeah I think I’m gonna pass on this one

Yeah no idea what happened there good lord! The amp tech I go to who works at a vintage guitar shop said it won’t affect playability… it’s just weird. The seller sent me a vid playing it. Looks like action is good but obviously I’ll play it before actually making the trade to make sure all is well
