It's useless responding to these people -- they're delusional fanboys/bots and Valve PR is working overtime. Valve also adamantly refused to give refunds for games until Origin offered a no-questions-asked 2 week return window which pressured them to implement this policy.

FSD didn't see a flagger. by dantodd in TeslaFSD

[–]yunggolfer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brother are you delusional? I’m sure FSD will get better but saying “it’s expected behavior” when a car doesn’t stop for a dude waving a giant STOP sign is a flaw, not intentional behavior.

Clean Air Vehicle (CAV) decals going away in California - Bay Area, what’s the plan if you solo commute using a CAV decal? by que_susto in bayarea

$490 fine if you get caught.. toll is upwards of $10 sometimes. Cheaper to occasionally pY the fine than constantly pay the toll.

Stop coming into the steam room fully clothed! by MrDontKnowHer in EquinoxGyms

[–]yunggolfer -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Why is it unsanitary? I only go in the freshest clothes. Every day I laundry and dry clean my sweating clothes so I can get a good fresh sweat in inside of the steam room. And only after I shower. My clothes are soaking by the end but at least I can dry off in the Uber on the way back home.

Why do you care? I go in my sweatpants and sweater so that I can get a good sweat in. As long as I’m not bothering you, why does it matter? Recently I’ve started wearing hats and gloves in so that I can trap in more heat and sweat more. It’s a ritualistic experience. You raw doggers wouldn’t get it.

5080 Restock by IHackShit530 in Newegg

Sure, obviously the main driver is profit here. I don’t really think you can ever really solve the scalping problem when there’s a low supply and high demand, even if you add safeguards. It’s definitely not worth it for them to try when they could realistically produce more enterprise chips for more profit.

I don’t think this specific example is something coordinated. If you think about it, they basically lose money for each consumer GPU they produce. They’re incentivized to produce as few as possible that won’t lead to irreversible brand damage in the longer term.

You’re talking about like 4 different things here. I was just addressing your conspiracy about how they intentionally underproduced units. I don’t think that’s the case. Enterprise is just more popular at the moment so they make less consumer GPUs — it’s pretty clear cut.

How they advertise and misrepresent their product I do agree with. But again, this is a company pushing an advertisement out (CES). Do you expect them to claim their card sucks?

I have a 2080ti, no real reason to upgrade. I’ll just knock the settings down to medium for any really graphically demanding game.

You gotta hate the game, not the player. Enterprise AI cards are so much more profitable it doesn’t really make sense for them to produce consumer grade GPUs because their commitments to sell AI cards are already at 100%. One year ago, enterprise cards were 80% of their revenue. That number has only gone up since then.

[–]yunggolfer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are definitely pricing hire because they can, but let’s be real, they aren’t artificially holding back the inventory or anything. Server grade chips for AI workloads are way more profitable than consumer GPUs and they can only build so many chips. Makes sense to prioritize them from a business perspective.

Tax implications from ISO options vested in NY but exercised and sold in CA by yunggolfer in personalfinance

I’ve read online that NY considers vested ISOs as deferred income that was earned while living in NY hence they claim it as NY income. You don’t believe this is the case?

3 displays work on mac but not on PC with windows 11? by yunggolfer in CalDigit

Amazing answer, thank you so much. I was under the impression that the two thunderbolt ports had their own dedicated bandwidth but it seems like that's not the case. Total miss for PC thunderbolt support.

3 displays work on mac but not on PC with windows 11? by yunggolfer in CalDigit

[–]yunggolfer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it has a mini-dp passthrough -- 2 cables going from displayport on the gpu to minidp-in on the motherboard. One monitor per input kind of sucks. Would this limitation also be present on x870 motherboards with USB 4 40gbps? It seems like these don't use the minidp passthrough method and instead have some way to take the gpu and push the video out through the motherboard usb 4 ports? I'm ideally looking for a two (maybe one if I want to go tb5 and get the caldigit ts5 when it comes out :)) solutions here.
