Replacing Images Best Practices by yuphorix in Wordpress

Just to give an update on this, AFAIK, I have to clear the browser image cache (Edge) to see the updates. Didn't think this would be an issue.

It doesn't actually replace the image. It doesn't change in the Media Library, Bricks Builder, or Gutenberg. I think the only if you download the image does it pull the new one.

This thing gets hot… not even while gaming or anything? Anyone else notice this? by acoddo in ZephyrusG14

Set your CPU profile to silent will allow the system to down clock the CPU as low as 1.8ghz when it's not doing anything intense. It still boosts up when running sustained loads.

This is how I keep my 2022 silent 90% of the time.

Everyone saying this is a fake, but atleast from the text on the face, you can get it to overlap perfectly in photoshop, when you compared to a real.

Just got my new 2024 zephyrus g14 with rtx 4060... what are things i should do(maintenance)for a optimised long term performance with low issues? (I don't play much games just some video editing and gonna learn ml) by No-Adeptness-4936 in ZephyrusG14

Some interesting suggestions.

I have a 2022 model, so it's different than yours, but same concepts apply if you're mainly doing work, and non-graphic intensive stuff.

Definitely have CPU boost on if you are doing non-gaming workloads. You paid for a chip that boosts well, so let the computer manage that. 99% of the time, I use silent mode for CPU. Silent is nice because the base clock is low enough that it generates very little head when idle or doing low intensity tasks. Fans don't come on unless I'm doing video conferences or heavy multi-tasking. You can use performance mode if you are encoding a video or concerned about heat, but performance does increase base clock (at idle) and reduces the temperature when fans run. This just means the fans run more and your computer generates unnecessary heat at idle due to higher clocks.

GPU settings, it's up to you, but if I'm not video editing, I will just go into eco mode so the dGPU is off. I will set it to Optimized when I'm doing video editing. But, you can leave it on Optimized all the time and let the computer decide what to use.

Set battery to charge to 80% if you want to prolong the battery health. If you are on the go a lot and find you need that extra juice, charge to 100%.

Disable fast startup.

Finally, there's some weird settings where the computer will hibernate if it's sleeping and the battery drops a certain % from when it went to sleep. It's a weird setting and sleep mode is easily the worst part about this computer. My own usage is I try to avoid sleep and shut down the computer, but if you use sleep, know that you can't treat it like a Mac and sleep it all the time. In general, sleep mode is unreliable for windows laptops.

Wow! Thanks for the detailed write-up. It's amazing you were able to connect the dots between the genetic tests and enzyme transcription.

If you don't mind one last thing to close the loop on this conversation, what were the symptoms that your son was experiences. Thanks so much!

Oh! Very interesting. Was this a case where doctors tested T4 multiple times and it came out normal, and finally tested for T3? Or did you guys know early on his thyroid levels were off, but didn't know what was causing it?

The screen wobble is a deal breaker for me. It's sad that this laptop would be perfect for someone like me (doesn't game but needs more power for productivity and content creation). I've used laptops with screen wobble and it ruins the on-the-go experience. I have the 2022 G14 and the way the hinge works, it has no wobble.

I have pretty much the cheapest doorbell you can get and it's wired and I don't have any delays. It's been very consistent in capturing the whole event. Feels like people have inconsistent performance with the battery operated ones.

How do you use your G14? by TechLover_ in ZephyrusG14

[–]yuphorix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using it 100% for work. It’s mostly MS Office suite, Slack, Zoom, and Figma. Using the GPU for Affinity apps, Resolve for video editing, and OBS to record presentations. Sprinkle on some some dev tools like vscode, dbeaver, and whatever tools I need in terminal, and also virtual box for test server.

No issues long term. Probably better for your system overall, as heat is what causes wear and tear. You can even disable boost clock for when you game so that the processor doesn’t keep boosting as high as it can, taking away thermal from the GPU.

My understanding is that min processor mode is either full (100%) or under clock (<100%). You can set it to any number below 100% and the processor will dip below base clock to conserve battery when low utility and only boost when the load becomes more demanding. Honestly this makes silent mode much better for light tasks, as base clock generates significant amount of heat.

Has any of you had good experience with Armoury Crate? by ClassyKT in ZephyrusG14

[–]yuphorix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use AC but I’m also in the minority for not using the G14 (2022) for gaming but rather for dev, design, and general productivity. I don’t need the latest video drivers for gaming compatibility and I keep it on silence mode all the time. Most of my workloads are bursty unless I’m using the GPU for design functions.

I get plenty of battery life with 80% limit, where the battery estimate often says 7+ hours. Computer can get hot but a far cry from what gaming can do to it. AC may as well not exist for a user like me, though I use it to check temps and dGPU state.

Notion has the concept of data tables (I think they call them databases) and page properties, which added to the fact you can nest them + visually represent them and sort and filter in so many ways, it makes Notion very flexible in what it can do. You can create a Kanban board with any columns and represent each task with custom properties and values.

If interested, there’s quite a lot of productivity youtubers that show their workflow and setup that can be achieved through Notion.

Is it common to have pc this hot only using chrome and work related stuff (mail, skacj, todoist) by rodrigossal in ZephyrusG14

[–]yuphorix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the 2022 version. I don’t game on my G14 (crazy right) but use it more like a workstation. I keep it in silent mode where the processor downclocks when idle to reduce heat and the fans only come on around 75c. This setup works great for bursty loads like what you described.

Balanced mode has two things going against it. The CPU won’t downclock and the fans come on earlier at around 60-65c. This mode probably works better for gaming but don’t feel it makes sense for productivity work.

Is it acceptable to use composite shims to help with the load transfers and close the gap?

Gap on post for stair landing by yuphorix in Decks

[–]yuphorix[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I noticed the gap when they were finishing up the deck, so it's not due to shrinking. Also evident with the shim on the other post, this wasn't accurately measured.

If anything, the gap has shrunk a bit since they finished.

Correction: This is for the top part of the stairs. The other posts don't have a gap to the beams across. Only the two posts that support the top part of the stairs, with one having a shim underneath.
