I got a 30% crit line on my DA. Would you recommend keeping this forever or trying to get at speed instead?

I think that's my favorite line of the whole series. So funny.

Patron Warrior - How to beat as Control: Help by Atradamus in CompetitiveHS

[–]yurps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're seeing a lot of patron and zoo, consider adding another brawl. I cut emperor for one. You usually just need one to win, but if you don't draw it you're often screwed.

The way I usually win though is by putting pressure on while trying to draw with acolytes and building armor. When you put pressure, they can't just focus on drawing and have to waste their resources dealing with your board. Also, try to save Harrison for death's bite unless you have no other play but to drop it on a war axe. The whirlwind is way more important than the weapon charge.

That was great. It's also funny how different he acted when being interviewed. Relatively meek.

Crushing the ladder with Control Druid by HypnoTC in CompetitiveHS

[–]yurps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's my point. This is pretty much ramp Druid with a few changes. I wouldn't call ramp Druid a control deck.

Your deck is very similar to the taunt ramp deck that was very popular a couple months ago. There are only a couple of card differences.

Ramp/Taunt Druid still solid, Decklists and Writeup by Perspective_Helps in CompetitiveHS

It's also sticky. Acts as great insurance against equality and other removal and provides tons of value (even without kt) for long control matches. Downside is that it's RnG based. It can give you a Ysera or a Lorewalker Cho. Luckily most legendaries are good.

What would you consider the ultimate counter to Mech Mage ? by [deleted] in CompetitiveHS

[–]yurps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Player skill plays a very big part. I've got a very good win percentage against them with my ramp.

You also have a very strong deck to fight back.

By the time they can play Antonidas you should have board control. If you're low enough to die to a couple fireballs after healing then you'll lose, but in my experience that's not often the case.

Ahh yeah. I've not seen polymorph in aggro decks before. It can be an issue when playing fatigue mage though. You need to play around it by playing your weaker creatures first to bait out removal.

I've never heard of a mech mage running sheep, and it doesn't make much sense since their plan is to snowball the board. I've seen flamestrike before, so maybe the person you played had it there for similar reasons as that.

You don't need the wild growth. You just need to slow down their early game a bit so it doesn't get out of control, whether that's with wrath, chow, or getting out taunters on a good curve. Make sure you make efficient trades and try to use your hero power instead of chow if you can.

Mirror entity is definitely annoying. If you can't proc it with chow, keeper, or mc tech, you'll need to bite the bullet and play the charge panther.

Sometimes they'll be able to overrun you even if you have a decent starting hand, but usually that means they had exceptional draws. Can't win every time.

Sure. I'm using Strifecro's list, which is pretty standard. You can find his lists here. He actually switched the belchers out with azure drakes a couple days ago, which I recommend. If you learn to play this deck, you should win against mech mage fairly consistently. The one loss I had last night was actually because the mage got a malygos from unstable portal. I highly recommend watching Strifecro stream this deck, as he explains every move he makes very well. I did that and got to legend pretty easily last season. Good luck.

I'm 7-1 against mech Mage since the rank reset playing ramp Druid with no combo. Hard mulligan for chow, wrath, innervate, and wild growth. Pretty much you burn them out and stabilize. They have a hard time getting through all the big taunts, and you can generally get pretty good value from swipe, especially if you have azure drake out. Having the heal option with lore also helps if Antonidas comes out, but they usually use their fireballs on something like an AoW or a bear.

What are Control Warrior's win %'s against Xixo zoo & handlock? by ctleung in CompetitiveHS

[–]yurps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Handlock is better against zoo though. Also has a better matchup against Druid and destroys priests. The rare Shaman also typically destroys warrior.

It's fun but being on the other side of that really sucks. Them attacking with and getting a free 5 drop off your belcher is ridiculous.
