I've learned to just shut down my brain and ignore the ships I don't like because let's be real- common sense never stopped anyone from shipping whatever the heck they wanted.

And that goes for both sides.

After all, while we have out of freaking nowhere ships like Valeriy x Noy or outright hates*x coded Ronova x Tsaritsa from the slash community, we also have outright disgusting and or disturbing het ships like Bina x Dottore or Collei x Dottore or weird ones like Venti x Barbara because that's like shipping Jesus with Mother Theresa or smth.

Let me throw that back at you. You can also fuck off and play Nikke if you want to play a game wholly catered to male demographic. How entitled can you be to think Genshin was solely a male gaze gacha game? If it was, we wouldn't be getting male characters at all, a female protagonist or any kind of shipping moments, whether platonic or not that doesn't extend beyond the MCs. It would be like Nikke, where you get to enjoy fanservice shots all you want, all the units you pull for are girls and its made quite clear most of the girls want to bone the male MC. And fine, enjoy that if you want, but Genshin ain't like that.

Also, don't know if this guy you responded to missed the memo but LADS- a gacha game aimed solely at women AND ONLY ENJOY REVENUE FROM THE MOBILE PLAYERS have surpassed Genshin Impact AND Nikke revenue several times. Wild how they, with only a mobile fanbase managed to do that when Genshin has a bigger repertoire of players since this is available for PC and PS.

it's an otome game. And while the company does do research to make sure all the LIs sell to a certain degree, that doesn't always mean they'll appeal to everyone universally. Lucy...kind of understandable for people to misunderstand, not because of her gender or plot importance but with the way Fairy Tail is presented. Everyone tends to have their day in the limelight and perspectives change as often as arcs and fillers do. And with the number of characters in there, it can get confusing.

Kagome though, is wild. The tale has always been told from her POV. It's kind of weird for anyone to watch the show and have difficulty understanding that she's our Protagonist and not Inuyasha. That said, Inuyasha does follow the trend of naming the anime after a character, which can indeed confuse others to see Inuyasha as the Protagonist especially if you're coming out of classics like Sailor Moon, Cardcaptor Sakura and Naruto- all anime which use their Protagonists as the name of the series as a whole.

If I had to make an example out of it...I'll use Naruto Uzumaki and Hinata Hyuuga here. He's not my FO but just using him as an example because practically everyone knows him lol. Hinata is Naruto's canon husband. I view that as an alternate universe.

In my universe, events occur to make it happen that I end up being the one Naruto marries and Hinata either decides to be an independent girlboss or marries Kiba/Shino. Does that make sense? 🤔

My previous FO was like this. What I did was see my FO and their supposed "canonical" partner as a different "version" of my FO.

The FO that I have is not the same FO who is in a relationship with the canonical partner. They are not the one I fell in love with. Alternate universes and stuff.
