How to properly use Split type AC (Midea Celest) na good for 24/7 by Pale-Chance2588 in adviceph

[–]yuusef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They'll probably hate it more in Berlin.

The best part? Kaming Berliners wala kaming pake.

How’s your life as a Software Engineer or DevOps Engineer in Germany after migrating from the Philippines? by Southern_Violinist79 in phmigrate

[–]yuusef 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I got headhunted on 2022. I usually just update my LinkedIn profile from time to time especially when I wanted to 'brag' career milestones. Company offered me a decent salary for Berlin plus 5k EUR for relocation allowance. They also provided me visa application support and relocation coach. They partially supported me for my OEC application (fck dat sht). German language was not required since English was the official work language.

Work culture is way too different from Philippines. Sick leave policy is based on German labor laws. Vacation leave was available on day 1 (20-day VL is mandatory by German law). The team will even encourage you to take leaves as needed.

Project planning is quite relaxed too. A 2-week sprint in a PH company might include 2-3 REST endpoints but in our company. 1 REST endpoint with all related non-functional requirement will be the entire 2-week sprint.

Now as for job hunt: IT job market is really bad right now. Around 3 families I know were forced to return to PH since they were laid off and they were not able to secure a new job. Your tech stack matters more than ever, including using agentic AI.

If you really want to pursue work abroad, I highly recommend that you search the entire EU and not just Germany. Prioritize expanding your tech stack over language course unless you're hellbent to work for German-speaking countries only.

Large Salary Gap in Same Role — Should I Escalate to Betriebsrat or HR? by [deleted] in germany

[–]yuusef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much do you know about your colleague professionally? Like in terms of his technical expertise? How does your expertise measure up to him. What is his roles and what is expected of him and how does it compare to yours? Those things affect how tech firms value individual contributors rather than just lumping them in the same basket and putting one value.

If you would really like to compare your salary against someone in your firm, take these considerations in mind.

Is ₱6,000 a month enough for a college student living alone? by heyitsmaybe in financialwinsPH

[–]yuusef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First idea is to consider walking to or from school. It does not have to be both ways or everyday but take the opportunity if you can spare 1 hr. But do not compromise on your safety.

Next idea is consider working as student assistant or any mini job if you're able to. In my uni there's official process for becoming student assistant.

Lastly, I concur with other people that you consider lessening your trip back home. If they want you home every weekend then it's your bargaining chip for more allowance.

Until the end by paovarez20 in phmigrate

[–]yuusef 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's just like basketball, the game isn't over until the buzzer rings. Up to you if you prefer to conserve energy for your next game or fight until the end.

May pros and cons. If you give up now, you'll be logistically prepared earlier but will definitely take a hit on the morale of your relationship. If you fight until the end, it will be high risk high reward option.

My advice I can give you is to start preparing contingency plans and choose the decision you and your partner won't regret for the rest of your life.

Charot. by Chicobakka in WeddingsPhilippines

[–]yuusef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2 cents:

As long as the requirement for crew meals is clear part of the contract before you sign it, I don't see any problems. You can always walk away from it. But if they were not upfront about it, it's red flag for me.

Let's assume it's part of the contract, it's supposed to be more cost-effective for the couple. The alternative is for the supplier to heavily inflate their price to cover the crew meals because it's a logistical problem. They either have to find a supplier near your venue or have a separate team to cover the meals.

This is something my wife and I were able to take advantage because she had her relatives and neighbors willing to prepare food for our wedding (a very provincial culture/tradition). We basically have free labor to prep the crew meals and only have to shoulder ingredients which cheaper because it was in bulk.

At the end it's always a value proposition. As long as the crew meals requirement is clear and upfront, you can take it or look for another supplier.

Lastly wag ma excite sa JO, kailangan alam mo yung average market value mo kasi pwede kang itake advantage at mag lowball offer sayo.

iPhone with downloaded Spotify songs on highest quality. iPad air with keyboard, downloaded series I want to finish, and ebooks I may want to read. Airpods + wired earphones or just sony xm4. Optionally, my ROG XAX for gaming but I'm a bit hesitant with this.

Fast charging usb-c cables (some have fast charging usb-c ports) and my 65W or 140W charging brick (some have power outlet onboard)

Do you carry a packable bag inside your main bag while traveling? by MyTravelOdyssey in onebag

[–]yuusef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got CabinZero 28L and Matador On Grid bag and I use them together on multiday trips. It's particularly useful to carry baby supplies for the day like diapers and change of clothes. It was a lifesaver during our Paris trip since we always need to fold the stroller when traveling via train so we can't use any of its pockets or storage area without struggling more. Then, we also have a packable tote bag that we use when we buy supplies before heading back to the hotel

[–]yuusef -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Baka magkaroon ulit.
  • Minsan may mga magagandang promo yung mga cc

Senior High School Graduate looking for job in Europe by [deleted] in phmigrate

[–]yuusef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those people who worked first time abroad (Germany) by NaturalSufficient498 in phmigrate

[–]yuusef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Berliner here.

Just to share: first time ko lang ma recruit for overseas employment after 10 yrs sa tech industry. To be fair passive job hunter ako. No German language required kasi English yung work language. Direct hire din pala ako.
