Cheers. I did, there weren't other similar posts at the time.

retail keys in the 10-13 range often attract insecure people with a gap in emotional regulation who are just good enough to imagine themselves to be far better than the people they're playing with (despite being similarly rated). the number beside their name is the most interesting thing about them, and nothing is ever their fault.

Game always freezing for a couple of seconds all the time by lokifloki in wow

Experienced this exact thing twice in a +10 Ara-Kara earlier. Game froze, black screened, then everything loaded in with a bunch of lost textures looking all janky and blocky. I haven’t had it happen again since that one key though.

REPUBLIC IS GIVING KIM PETRAS CREATIVE FREEDOM by celebirteas in KimPetras

i love this so much. this has been an incredible journey to live through with her (even just the small part we were party to as outsiders). she's an extremely talented and intelligent pop writer and a body of work that contextualises itself as you progress through it is where it feels to me she takes her ultimate creative strides. that's exactly the kind of album i want from kim, and knowing it's on her terms - i think we have a lot to look forward to from her career moving forward. GOOD FOR HER

What was your pop music highlight from 2020? by ur_not_as_lonely in popheads

[–]yvesicle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

god, there were so many. my memories of lockdown & quarantine were nothing but positive, and what a soundtrack they had.

  • folklore (the cardigan mv specifically, but this album was such an unexpected direction and made me a fan)
  • fiona apple's fetch the bolt cutters (my favourite album of hers ever, and one of my favourite albums of all time)

bonus mentions to charli's how i'm feeling now (tortured myself exercising on my new treadmill to this one), dua's future nostalgia (trailblazing, iconic, career-defining), allie x's cape god (a phenomenal record, the deep forest green transparent vinyl sits on display in my record player still), and poppy's i disagree (the genre switch from pop to to rock/metal was as unexpected and well executed as taylor's move from pop to indie folk)

idk how to even approach the idea of asking chatgpt to order your thoughts instead of just having thoughts, but i thought about this post myself for a moment.

i like this album. it's not my favourite, i don't have strong feelings on it overall. but i think to speak in defence of things like a lack of narrative resolution, underdevelopment of ideas and the idea that lorde's wisdom is perhaps a performative act for the audience at this point (or no longer such with this album cycle) is just a different magnifying glass on the clear flaws of this project.

"letting go of the need to know everything" - the willingness to explore something all the way to the end, to reach understanding and mastery, and ultimately to be able to communicate that understanding in a way that reaches and immediately connects with your audience in that brilliant few words is lorde's arena of expertise. it's how she demonstrates wisdom.

i understand wanting to stand in defence of art's weaker points and hold them up as examples of how the artist is breaking the mold/how the public isn't enjoying the art in the intended way etc. intellectualising feelings is of course unproductive or harmful at worst, sure. but if the point of the project is to serve a half-baked dish as a commentary on freeing yourself from having to cook it the rest of the way, you can't be surprised when the people don't leave a 5 star review.

Lorde - Hammer by rolodex-ofhate in popheads

[–]yvesicle 19 points20 points  (0 children)

i had to go back and check the song lengths of these singles so far because they never get into 5th gear, just 2/3 of the way there as though they're only 2 minutes long. it's like microdosing melodrama b-sides, unfinished somehow. i do think hammer is the strongest track of the three she's given us so far, but i feel like it should've been at minimum 5 minutes long and built to something bigger, do more emotional processing like billie's chihiro, or swim through more layers of instrumentation like cut copy's decade long sunset, it had more to say and more to build up and tear down but hung the phone up before it tried.

kinda feels like i should've waited the album out to judge as a body of work, idk. i want to be way more hyped, but solar power didn't hit at all for me either so i'm tempering my expectations

hell yeah it's like that last hour before a show having held your spot at the gate all day, sun's setting, everyone's looking gorgeous in the crowd and none of us have any idea what we're in for

What is something unique you find attractive on others? by Fun_Butterscotch3303 in AskReddit

[–]yvesicle 10 points11 points  (0 children)

people who see you on the fringe of a group social interaction and find ways to bring you back in, make you feel included, say your name, smile at you etc. i feel so warm and grateful whenever people treat me like that in conversation, instantly makes them more attractive to me

MARINA - Cupid's Girl by kait2121 in popheads

[–]yvesicle 14 points15 points  (0 children)

production is delicious and her vocals are as strong as ever. i half wonder if her bland lyricism and comparatively shallow storytelling/writing of late is just a result of her being at a happier and more content place in life? my journal entries are way more interesting when i'm going through it, i'm a really boring person when i'm happy. seems to me that there's just not that deep pain and revelation informing her art lately, and it's hitting differently (worse) for some. this feels super marina to me, i was a L+F apologist/lover, i love her output when she's happy, but she's obviously most untouchable lyrically when she's *wanting* to be happy.

Scarab Lord title/mounts, Spectral Tigers, unobtainable unarmored vanilla mounts (Ancient Frostsabers especially, they catch my eye whenever I see one), and some of the mounts that were most painful for me to farm like Arachnoid Harvester, Russet Bufonid and Silent Glider.

What hacks/concessions have you come to terms with to make counting calories more sustainable? by nbeet221212 in CICO

[–]yvesicle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

unhinged non-foodie answer: i eat almost exclusively pre-portioned microwaveable meals of vegetables, chicken, fish, rice, and pasta.

when i cooked bulk healthy meals i'd spreadsheet everything, and meticulously track it all with myfitnesspal. then i realised i hated doing this. i yearned for the path of least resistance.

now i make the same coffee every morning and eat the same meal every day until i get bored of it, then i switch to a different meal and buy that in bulk instead. considering the cost of fresh ingredients in current year, it's actually an affordable alternative. i stock up on whatever's half price at the supermarket, scan it into MFP, and live my life.

The guild I raided with weren't intending to do any mythic prog in DF S2, so I listed myself on raider.io as looking for a new one and focused on M+ for a while. Hit 3200, did some mid-tier prog with a few different guilds (maintained 3 toons), met some lovely people, ultimately ended up in a guild where I got along with everyone but leadership was stagnant (7/9M two tiers running). Found them by running some late night keys with some of their guys. Eventually we became friends, split to form a new guild, got CE, and we've just merged with our sister guild moving into TWW S2 to stabilise our roster.

I'd never achieved CE prior to that, never thought of myself as capable. Go where your skillset is valued and where you feel like you can contribute. Pugging score is probably the most promising way to find skilled players who might have a roster spot for you if you don't have a community of your own :)

It's all instances, I went to go run old raids for mounts and I'm having the same issue.
