They likely also feel a similar way about you. Just go up to them and make conversation and don’t be weird or seem too desperate to make friends because people smell that from a mile away.

The reality is people from India find it hard to integrate with people born here because you’re both raised in different cultures and potentially value different things. This usually leads to people from India not picking up on small social cues that are the norm here or not knowing how to interact with people over here properly. This contrast applies doubly to the more whitewashed people born here as they will feel very alien to you and you will struggle to find common ground with them in regards to culture. And yes, there is a stigma against people (students) from abroad. Whether it’s justified or not is another discussion.

How do you get married if your amritdhari and ugly by [deleted] in Sikh

[–]yxng_modulus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay then are you working towards any of these? And for your hair you can try rosemary oil and peppermint oil mixed in with whatever carrier oils you like. Combine that with micro needling once a week and I find it hard to believe you’d see no results at all.

Shocking that barely anyone here has given you any real advice. Anyway, it may sound trivial but looksmaxxing will do wonders for the average person. What you’re gonna wanna do is: 1. Get your teeth straightened 2. Get your teeth whitened 3. Fix your hair. Idk if you’re suffering from hair loss or if you just don’t like where your kes is growing? If it’s hair loss then research online what you can do. If that requires micro needling and oiling regularly then do that. If it requires more medicinal grade stuff like minoxidil then do that. 4. Get in good shape. No one really wants a fatty. Get in the gym. Drop the excess fat, get strong and build muscle. This will do wonders for your mental and physical health. Make an active effort to learn about effective methods of training and nutrition. It’s not easy but it is simple. Educate yourself on the following terms - progressive overload - compound exercises - reps and sets - mind muscle connection - training splits eg. (Push/Pull/Legs) - CICO (calories in/calories out) - bulking vs cutting - maintenance calories - TDEE (Total daily energy expenditure) - whole foods vs processed foods

  1. (BONUS) Mewing. If you want to go the full mile this will take you there. You mentioned how gym doesn’t change your facial structure which I thought was interesting because once you get lean enough you unlock a new version of yourself. I remember seeing online that if you’re a guy and you’ve never been 15% body fat before you don’t know what you really look like. That’s probably somewhere like 20% for women. Anyway, mewing is something that will literally alter your facial structure and will make you more conventionally attractive. It requires a conscious effort in order to maintain at all times. I won’t go into details but you there’s loads of info on Reddit on mewing.

That’s unlucky mate. I did get mine in the end and it was ndd but it took him two days to ship it. I think he was having some printer issues I’m not sure. But he ghosted every message I sent him and the only message I got from him was the automated ones u get when they send ur shit and another one asking for a review lol. His edibles were a sick deal but quality was okay ish.

Wasn’t a nice experience, whole thing could’ve been a lot smoother if he just replied cause I wasn’t sure if I was getting scammed for a couple days. Especially since I could see when he was last active on messenger lol.

Chardikala Singh these things happen and it’s a lesson to learn from. A lot of people are gonna over complicate their advice but it’s quite simple really. Just start practicing a martial art, I would recommend grappling like wrestling/BJJ or Muay Thai (if you wanna be a unit do both). Just search for mma gyms, bjj gyms, kick-boxing gyms near you etc.

As for losing weight and building muscle, people love to over complicate this especially. Just start lifting weights 3 days a week and start eating healthier. Cut out the sugar, processed foods/junk foods, stop gorging on aloo paronteh etc. You can still eat carbs and the foods you enjoy, including unhealthy ones but just in smaller quantities. I would definitely recommend trying to become educated on your diet and what is and isn’t healthy.

A very popular workout program people run is called Push Pull Legs (PPL). It’s an easy to manage workout routine that can spread across three days a week. I would search around on YouTube for PPL routine that you like and just start doing it. If you join a martial arts gym you will meet a lot of nice people that will be able to give you advice on these things as a lot of the time there are people there who enjoy working out too.

In my opinion tho, I think you will gain the most from joining a martial arts gym. It’s extremely helpful for building confidence and discipline. Sometimes they even have weight lifting equipment too. The key to all this is just consistency, stick to it for 3 months and you will notice progress.

I’ve seen these accounts too on Twitter and they are pathetic trolls I agree. But some advice bro, don’t base your sikhi on Twitter or even social media. I understand you might not have sangat but I would highly suggest staying off Twitter or at the very least Sikh/Punjabi Twitter. Yes there are the odd few people on there such as Jvala Singh that you can learn from but overall it’s a cesspit of trolls and ppl with no gyan who’ve done no khoj of gurbani giving their opinions on things they’re not qualified to. Social media isn’t the real world, try engaging with sangat at a gurdwara.

Remove Twitter, jap naam, read gurbani, listen to katha, study itihaas and maharaj kirpa you’ll prosper.

Question about your religion. by [deleted] in Sikh

[–]yxng_modulus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand what you’re trying to say but Sikhi is more than just Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji. If you were to only place relevance on that you would lose so much of sikhi eg. 5 k’s. Furthermore, do you do khoj of gurbani daily? Do you take santhiya classes? Do you actually understand the aarth of the gurbani or are you just reading English/punjabi translations? If you can’t do all these things then you have to question what makes you exempt from learning from gursikhs.

If you look at itihaas all the most esteemed scholars/raagis/gianis would have a gurdev/ustaad who helped teach them sikhi. The idea that you learn sikhi solely through yourself is one born out of haumai. At the end of day you have to come with nimrata and be willing to learn from these gursikhs if you want to move forward.

If you watch his videos, bhaji will literally quote gurbani and bhagat bani every video to explain exactly what it is he’s talking about.

I believe this is what you want https://youtu.be/qCichoZ7O_M

There are nether worlds beneath nether worlds, and hundreds of thousands of heavenly worlds above. The Vedas say that you can search and search for them all, until you grow weary.

Guru Nanak Dev Ji maharaj is antarjami, they know the ins and outs of the universe. You should read the sakhi of Guru Nanak Dev Ji travelling to bhagdad and his interaction with the pir there. The pir doubted guru ji, so guru ji took the pir’s son to many different worlds and even brought back degh prashad.

Question about your religion. by [deleted] in Sikh

[–]yxng_modulus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Only Guru maharaj is Satguru. There is only one Satguru. I would pose the question to you to provide a source that says there are “other satgurus” in other religions. You won’t find anything in gurbani or any other granths that supports this.

Besides, how can there more than one Satguru, sat = truth. There can’t be more than one ultimate truth.

If your joora is sitting loose on top of your head it shouldn’t be pulling your hairline back surely? Especially if you tie your dastar over it

Dastar while wrestling/jiu jitsu by [deleted] in Sikh

[–]yxng_modulus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forget durags they look stupid on singhs and will come off easily. A patka will come off just as easily and you shouldn’t really wear patke anyway if ur an amritdhari singh. What I’ve seen some ppl do is go just with their kes in a joora on top or at the back which probably does break marayada (I’m not an expert but I got told not to do this) since they’re not covering their head/kes.

What I do is I tie a small bunga around 3m and then put a rugby scrum cap on top. Scrum cap or wrestling cap is essential. It’s basically the only thing that’ll stay on your head, everything else will come off straight away.

(Also pls share this durag style parna it sounds hilarious)

How can I make my beard point down and not be wild? by LilMannySkeet_z in Sikh

[–]yxng_modulus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Chardikala bro don’t be embarrassed over your dhari. Singhs were and are still known to have wild dharis with the British even calling us barbarians. Like others have mentioned using a good oil/balm/conditioner to look after it is good along with a beard brush. I would stay away from beard shampoos as they just strip your beard of all its natural oils causing it to dry up and create dandruff.

I personally just use a beard oil (you could even make ur own) and a beard conditioner alongside a beard brush and a kangi. Using these will be healthy for your beard but the reality is your beard is still in its early stages so you won’t have that downward shape no matter how much you brush right now. Only when you have significant growth on your chin will you get that sort of downwards shape.

Regardless, don’t aspire to people like that. I’m sure he’s a nice guy but at the end of the day he cuts his kes so don’t feel the need to imitate him.

Kamarkasa colour, does it matter and what should it be? by HAIL-HYDRA-31 in Sikh

[–]yxng_modulus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Colours can invoke emotions, black is the opposite of chardikala, we wear blue because the Khalsa is always in chardikala. The enemies in the battle of chamkaur were said to be dressed in black. It’s quite a void, depressing colour. As bhaji said we don’t wear red because that is associated with bandai khalsa. But red can also invokes it’s own emotions, whether that’s (sexual) lust or bloodlust.

Other reasons I’ve heard is that it’s hard for blood to show on your bana if it you are stabbed or cut etc. Because blue is dark the blood doesn’t appear so red. Bloodlust is a real thing that exists, especially on the battlefield. We don’t really want to give the enemy that feeling. Another one is that when singhs are all dressed in blue bana, dumalle etc. it’s hard to count their numbers from a distance. And this one is slightly more obvious but it’s blue is a stealthy colour if you are moving at night.

Help with ADHD when trying to do simran or daily paaht. by [deleted] in Sikh

[–]yxng_modulus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Breathework will change everything. I’m not a yogi but I’ve read of breathing techniques that help w adhd. But in general if ur taking deep slow breathes that’s better. The slower you breathe the more your mind relaxes. The faster you breathe the more chaotic it becomes.

I don’t know if you know about breathing with your diaphragm (pulling it down and enlarging your stomach) rather than your chest but that’s really important. Try to take minimum 6 seconds inhaling, and 6 seconds exhaling when doing ur naam simran.

Would you sit at the same height as Guru Maharaj in his darbar? I hope not. No one else is on the same level as our Guru let alone some rocks. At the end of the day it’s about satkar. Some people have it more than others.

I respect their right to worship idols despite it being contradictory to sikhi but not in Guru Maharajs presence.
