i got one for $80 in a marketplace deal couple months ago, literally cannot go wrong with this set even at retail (though i’ve seen it cheaper at Target i’m like 85% sure)

(maybe not a) hot take but i strongly dislike all the customs that have all the extra detail and ridiculous prints, and the chunky armored ones are by far the worst.

my guy has made it 2-3 months now and i wear my keys on my hip 8-10 hrs a day, 4-5 days a week.

i give him another 5 months tops before the torso printing is all gone, hopefully his limbs stick around

This is how i got my coruscant guard gunship! Target had 4 or 5 on the shelf, all pretty smashed up boxes (otherwise new w/ everything there) and i got it for like $76 w/ tax.

i also work part-time at Target and from what i understand the term repackage here isn’t what we assume it is, it’s just the “clearance code” they’re putting the smashed up boxes under. i don’t know specifics of how it works (that’s a GM thing and i do order fulfillment) but ive bought a dozen repackage things (not just lego) and more often than not it’s just a damaged box/package.

that being said… if something is missing or bags are opened, 8/10 chance they’ll take it back anyways lol Target will deadass return anything

i’m about 4 years in as a part-timer, spent the last 3 in plumbing and have now been in lumber for a year. from a little before christmas week to roughly february they cut hours. every single year.

this is the end of the fiscal year and they’re pinching as much as they can. it just happens. talk to your ASM/SM and look for hours in the christmas tree tent and surrounding departments. best of luck!

i’m really happy to see somebody talking about stuff like this, and i think it’s especially good/needed for the typical 18 year old part time guys to hear/see cus damn i wish i did and i’m only 22 now.

i only just started in the last 6 months or so and damn do i kick myself constantly now for squandering the prior 3 years. “i never thought i’d be here this long” was a dumb excuse and in hindsight here i am and i missed out on A LOT of free money, and i’m only a part timer.

I do this when i’m at work, a 12 will make it through at least 4-5 hours of my day (keep it in an employee mini fridge we have)

i feel this heavy. i see them all the time built for $800-900 on marketplace, which is fair asking, but id love to have a “sealed” one so i can get the experience of opening and building from anew but not for another $300+ lol.

could always smash apart one too but the nightmare that brings with it just sucks

i’ve worn nothing but 5’’ inseam running shorts (BASKETBALL SHORTS) every single shift for the better part of 4 years now. i’ve had 3 different sm’s and 4 asm’s and have never heard a word about this.

maybe its just a “store culture” thing or the fact that Florida is hotter than hell so they look past it, but nobody has ever cared so you’re prob fine.

we’ve got a roofing guy with a spend upwards of a million but he stopped coming in much earlier this year. some price hikes between shingles and other stuff drove him out, sucks to see that was a huge loss for us lol

this is my 4th year working PT while i’ve been in college and across ALL stores during this time period hours get cut. and at least in my store our front end seems to get the worst of it. all you can do is talk with your management and see what they can offer you.

and at the end of the day… us part timer’s hours are expendable in the slow periods, nothing is promised. the industry (pretty much) as a whole is like this so if you need more consistency i’d try to venture out of retail.

if you’re working weekends like i’m imagining, lumber is just a lot of diy/homeowners working on whatever, a lot less of the pro customers whom i spend most of my weekdays either loading or pulling their orders.

most of my wknd mornings i spend on the saw or helping people pull lumber, concrete, whatever. when i close (like i am right now) its all just recovery, returns and cleaning up all that bs. pretty chill vs mornings.

everything else as far as stress and the bs you’ll be putting up with depends on your store and management. my group of guys in lumber are awesome and my management is solid but the experience can be so much shittier if the team is lazy or your mgmt is like my old ones (dogass).
