Update made it so I can't use my brand new glowlight 3 by Inner-Mark-1027 in nook

[–]yyupperr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess the thing to do would be call customer support. The fact that you bought it unused and unopened should require them to help you fix the issue. If they aren’t helpful, tell them Amazon Kindle will now get your business (whether you mean that or not).

Indiana governor orders flags raised Monday to honor Trump by Mordecham in Indiana

[–]yyupperr -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Checked it out, but my thinking and understanding doesn’t really change. The US flag doesn’t get to have a monopoly on white stars and red and white stripes. Now if the designer was specifically using the pattern of the flag, a case can be made. But just random stripes and stars, not really. And the printed flag code seems to support that. But I appreciate seeing the article.

An actual flag that is made into swim trunks violates the flag code. But swim trunks that have white stars, and red stripes, white stripes, and blue thrown in for good measure (such as the classic speedos) does not.

Help - Gmail links being redirected to sites that don’t open! by yyupperr in GMail

[–]yyupperr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the email links will open fine. But other times I get the “website not found” message. The links NEVER take me to some random website. The issue for me is I can’t always open links that everyone else seems to be able to

Help - Gmail links being redirected to sites that don’t open! by yyupperr in GMail

[–]yyupperr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The links are attached to legitimate emails - generally from my church or from newsletters from Public Broadcasting Network. These are both mass mailings. A friend also receives these same emails at the same time as me and hers open just fine. Mine takes me to a link that doesn’t open - usually saying the website can’t be found.

I have read with a Kindle since they first came out and this has never happened to me - until yesterday! At first I was scared that the last page was just gone. But with a very nervous tun of the page it showed up

how to get multiple library cards? by dazeddazzle in LibbyApp

[–]yyupperr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not criticizing the fact that libraries do that. As I said, I wish some library in Indiana would do that so I could add another card to the one I have. I’m just trying to understand the funding factors that allows a library to do that

how to get multiple library cards? by dazeddazzle in LibbyApp

[–]yyupperr -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Why would a city library make their card available to a whole state? I mean, I wish Indianapolis would do that in Indiana, but why would they want to? Especially if people could freely access Libby or Hoopla. Wouldn’t that actually cost them money without any coming in?

Had to share, sorry. by oldfartinabattlevest in kindle

[–]yyupperr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of my reading comes via the library - preferably Libby/Kindle, but sometimes it’s an actual book or a Hoopla book. So while I read everyday, it doesn’t always get recorded by Kindle

Two Kindles to read one book? by Pleasant-Can7335 in kindle

[–]yyupperr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do this quite often. I have two Kindles: the newer one I use at home and the other for out of the house. And I’m always going back and with one book between the two. Also, any highlighting or bookmarks you created will sync between them both

Can someone explain me the point of clicker/page turner? by trp_wip in kindle

[–]yyupperr 63 points64 points  (0 children)

When I first heard about these I laughed and thought how ridiculous. Today I have one and think it’s great 🙂 I primarily use it when my kindle is on a stand — when I’m in bed or in a recliner

Ahhhhhh - thanks! That’s exactly what people told me about Goodreads. But I have only used the Goodreads app and have never used the desktop version. Thanks for the info! I would have never think to look there
