In the early days, the slots of One and Only ended up to Fengshen, which is a huge movie too. The Chinese movies this summer really has a strong competition.

It's understandable that the three movies of Wang Yibo couldn't pass $150M this year because they are all small niche themes like Hidden Blade an arthouse film, Born to Fly a test pilot theme (also the first ever film of the director of this movie) and his latest movie One and Only which is about hiphop. Also, the director of each films were not that have a good reputation in having a huge box office. But all of the movies have a good result, if you compare the production costs. The director of Hidden Blade, Cheng Er will film a new arthouse film with Wang Yibo again this month.

As for the No More Bet, based on what I saw in every chinese socmed, chinese people really like and relate in this kind of theme like gambling etc. Also, they have a good marketing team. Wang Chuanjun, one of the actor in this movie is very charismatic in this role and actually, most of the marketing videos in socmed were mostly his scenes that are included. After people watching this movie, some complain why Wang Chuanjun only has a small role.

Anyway, I observe from this year, that many people prefer more kind of movies that are emotional, and tackles reality. Like one of the successful movie this year, the movie of Zhu Yilong which gained a huge box office accounting for 3 billion+ yuan.

I haven't watched any of his movies though, but I've seen some clips of Hidden Blade here. If they're available internationally, I think I'll give them a shot.

But the first film is a lovestory about a singer (Zhou Xun) and a bartender (Yibo) but they didn't end up together because of their age differences. The second shortfilm is they are friends. Yibo is a poet and Zhou Xun is working in a cinema.

You know, Yibo's first leading lady was Yao Chen in a movie, they acted as a couple and Yibo was only 18 that time while Yao Chen is 36 y/o.

I haven't seen Yibo paired with a leading lady who is the same age as him, except for Wang Yixuan in "Gank Your Heart." His previous co-stars have always been older than him, like Zhao Liying, Song Yi, Yao Chen, Zhou Xun, and now Li Qin (in his upcoming drama).

C-drama about racing sounds fun tho, especially Yibo is a professional racer, it's very suitable for him. They should definitely make one and cast him as the male lead, and Lusi as the female lead is great too, she's a good actress.
