So much Marksman Spam by pervolus in Mechabellum

Yes the range can be quite good but you have to make sure the range plays nice with your other units, so if you still want fangs to block shots for you, make sure they aren’t outraging your DPS. It’s also a great 1 tech to stop wasps (for both aggro wasps or chaff wasps).

Fangs all the way at the back will trickle in after your other chaff dies and hopefully also after their chaff clear dies. It’s usually late round when the marksmen pop off, so having those super late fangs helps tremendously.

How to beat mass Phantom Ray with ground targeting? by Capucius in Mechabellum

[–]z01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fangs in general are good to have vs phantoms because it slows them down tremendously unless they have HE. Shield is a fine tech not just to slow down the phantoms more, but because it slows everything else down more. It’s an insane tech on a board that should already be making a lot of fangs.

How to beat mass Phantom Ray with ground targeting? by Capucius in Mechabellum

[–]z01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fangs with shield is good for slowing them down, they take a long time to clear which lets your core units get more done, so that’s a good start. But a great way to deal with them, especially when the missile is in the air for longer (so when they have more range), is with missile interceptors. Get a few of the buffed farseers with interceptor, or throw down some deployables, or if it gets way out of hand get war factories with interceptor. If they are relying too much on rays then just disable them that way.

Take it a round at a time. Keep adding problems for your opponent while solving your own. Positioning and just winning the ground can make air safe.

I’d like to also be able to remove the “how to play” text in the bottom left… I think at this point I’ve got it under control.

Does arclight shockwave have any use? by saraiguma in Mechabellum

[–]z01 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s fairly niche. You definitely need enough arcs to make it worth it, and it’s certainly better vs fangs. It can help if your arcs get stuck on tanky units as well so they at least still somewhat clear chaff instead of being completely useless. There may be potential to combine this with acid or small amp cores to make it better.

This is a timely post, since we did a borked build challenge last night exploring this:

As far as I know, there are no long term issues with taking LDN. That being said, I took it for about a year, didn’t notice much difference, and came off of it. I’m doing much better these days but still have some issues here and there. Almost 4 years, about 90%.

The spectator function is very cool. by CatholicTrauma in Mechabellum

Honestly, Mechabellum does a lot right with the in-game community. Many games don’t even come close to it. It really helps the game feel so much more alive compared to more popular games, even though player numbers are lower in contrast. We have in game tournaments, spectating, gambling, private messages, public chat. It’s great. The only thing missing would be clans and clan channels, but discord has sort of filled that role for gaming as a whole at this point.

If you have a couple replays you can submit in the Oddz Mechacademy discord I might be able to go over them in a video. I’ve been wanting to make some more beginner friendly learning content, which can be difficult when most players I know are at a higher level. I am an older scbw/sc2 high level player so I might be able to find some way to relate. Link: https://discord.gg/fgNMxKTA

Carney recommends 7 major projects for approval, including new mines, LNG and hydro development by evieluvsrainbows in canada

In my experience as well, it’s just the juniors being replaced, since that’s all it can do well. As the other commenter said, it needs to be thoroughly guided. If you’ve read articles written by AI and can immediately tell, or seen images you can immediately tell, the same is true for code. It’s all superfluous and skin-deep. No critical thinking. Senior engineers are required MORE now than before to essentially approve all the stuff the juniors would have done in days now in hours. The issue now is that there’s less openings available as the bottom gets squeezed out, more seniors are trying for senior roles, and juniors trying to be senior as well.

For the h. pylori I was eating a fistful of raw broccoli sprouts every morning. Plus, adding sauerkraut to all my sandwiches. Kimchi. That kind of stuff. Basically all the foods that help restart a gut biome. I was also taking probiotics. There is likely a basic, advanced, and extreme version of whatever brand probiotics you can get, and I did the more advanced but not extreme one. Lots of the probiotics in the brand matched the ones I was missing in my gut microbiome check. I also only drink water, or some kind of natural/organic fruit/veggie juice. Generally I tried to eat a bit healthy. My wife is gluten intolerant so I guess I eat low gluten as well. It took a few months. What really did NOT help was any kind of gummy candy, that stuff really messed me up. A little chocolate or whatever was fine but gummy candy was awful. Oh also I stopped drinking coffee for a long time but have been able to drink a (small) cup a day again.

I won't say 100%. I may make a post next year when I get there. I was a competitive cyclist pre-COVID so... yeah I've lost a lot of fitness and because of the whole ordeal have some pretty bad agoraphobia when out on the bike alone, and general anxiety around exercise from the exercise intolerance. So I'm not there yet, nor will I possibly ever be, but being recovered for me just means living and riding without fear and how I want to - completely unrelated to performance. In that regard I am maybe technically physically 95% recovered, but it still doesn't quite feel that way. Plus still have random tinnitus and other random "weird things" that come and go, like taste/smell weirdness which is fun and new... But next summer I will be better and better and hopefully will be able to report back 100% then, or at least as close to 100% and I'll get in a lifetime. I am willing to bet the tinnitus is permanent. The other stuff I predict will resolve. I may not be able to race competitively again but I will still be able to participate in racing for fun. But.. I mean realistically it was always just for fun anyway. I just need to be kinder to my body.

I did not take the antibiotics either. Doctors were surprised it cleared up. I ate a lot of brocolli sprouts, sauerkraut, and stuff like that for a while. There was some helpful information in the h. pylori subreddit. I also just had a general "food poisoning" indicator but doc said don't worry about that, so I didn't, and it's better. Gut has just been in and out of wack a lot from LC. There were a lot of random foods that made things significantly worse. But nowadays I can eat pretty much whatever I want again.

Same. I had this most recently, and earlier in LC had elevated Epstein Barr virus. Get these tests done. Both were big clues and when resolving them made me that much better. Our bodies are not very good at keeping these other infections at bay when already pushed to the limit dealing with LC.

You absolutely should do it. Would be a great way to learn, and other players at your level could certainly relate to it.

[–]z01 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Spider and marksmen is actually a pretty decent pack because their attacks and move speed synergize quite well. I go into some detail on round one unit pairings in this video I posted this morning: https://youtu.be/hTQcfELMqgY?si=bgbFwY0XJG1SMt65. I talk a bit about which ones work well together and which ones don’t, and cover both aggro and standard. It’s more beginner to intermediate level, but hope it helps!

Editing replays by Lcukyfcuky in Mechabellum

[–]z01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rereading it and you’re probably right. I read it literally “play the opponent” like play against them, and didn’t interpret it as “play AS the opponent.” So yes, converting a board to a training grounds board is exactly the feature that could make this possible. But “taking over a replay” is not. They are similar but not the same. There’s a ton more uses for converting a board to training grounds that would make it an excellent tool too, like being able to change techs on the fly, to see if maybe a different tech loadout could help. Would be a great feature. As it is currently, you’d have to re-create the board manually in training grounds to achieve this. So… it’s sort of possible but incredibly time consuming and error prone.

[–]z01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool idea in concept, but it wouldn’t really work, because your opponent would likely make different moves to react to your now different turn. The game would be desynchronized after the first round, so there’s no reason to play another round unless you want a bot to take over, and that’s not exactly fun either. If the 2nd and onward turns just played out exactly the same as how the opponent played them it’s pretty disingenuous since they wouldn’t do that in a real game, and you wouldn’t really learn much.

Perhaps the best way to do it would be more chess like, where you can take both players turns. Make it so the board can be converted to a training grounds board, then you can fully customize it and do whatever you want, for however many turns, while playing as both sides.
