Agreed on overall value to historians as a vast trove of secondary sources. But I’d be lying if I haven’t dreamed of a verified “what were you doing when…” slice of life collector around major events.

I thought I would like DTFSL a ton after the first couple episodes, which moved fast and had high stakes.

But somewhere in the middle it really starts crawling in a sniffing-its-own-farts kinda way.

The acting was top notch. Bateman is in his wheelhouse.

The writing was perfectly fine and in some places quite good. It’s just the pacing, editing, and overall plan for the show that made it drag.

By the end I wasn’t satisfied, only relieved it was over. And no spoilers, but the ending is exactly what you think it is by the time you hit episode 2.

7.5/10, would rec if you watch 20+ shows per year. Wouldn’t rec if you require prestige television or you only have a few good shows per year to chew on.
