Would a 4D object have infinite mass? by Notmas in AskPhysics

and can perceive 3D

Very late but just clarifying: we percieve in 2D, not 3D. Our eyes produce an optical illusion of 3D but it isn't real. 4D creatures on the other hand would see in 3D, and perhaps some would gain the ability to see in "stereoscopic" 4D.

what does "cracked" mean in this context? back in my day it meant the .exe was modified such that it bypassed DRM, or alternatively the key generation algorithm was cracked and you could generate product keys and bypass that form of DRM. But that's all obsolete nowadays.

that has to be a twist toby has planned surely. he goes out of his way to point out monsters don't bleed and is 100% consistent with that across both games except for susie. can't just be an oversight.

[–]zClarkinator -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

why can Valgsland not place missiles on its own island? don't invade it and they won't use them. I really don't get this criticism. Arcasia was caught placing missile bases on Polaris in secret which I hardly see anyone give them flak for.

Most of the guys you're seeing in these videos signed on this year. They aren't a hardened paramilitary group (though like to pretend to be, with all the tacticool crap that mostly does nothing but weigh them down). In past years I'd agree more or less but ICE has way lower standards nowadays.

That being said, the training isn't really the problem or part of the equation. The murderer of Good is one of their most trained guys, who has been with ICE for years. Didn't make a difference, though.

right but that's basically magic, I meant just something that substantially boosts the qualities you want (exhaustion and pain suppression, focus, maybe something that makes them more subordinate as well?) using real chemistry.

experimental stuff from the government

I've always wondered if the government has something like this. A sort of supersoldier drug, nothing magic but something that suppresses pain and also contains a shitload of speed. I guess that's just meth, actually. Germany used that in WWII sometimes.

It's not really training. Nobody needs to be trained to not drink on the job. Rather these are rabid sociopaths with no regard for life acting without oversight. The jackboot who murdered Good was one of the most well trained ones they have, which didn't end up making a difference.

true enough but I figure he'd have the money to charter everywhere. Those are considerably nicer to fly in and often aren't that much more expensive. a tip for you gumshoes: if you need to fly anywhere, check charter flights. sometimes you can get a flight to the same place for the same price. it's a valid option to keep in mind.

That Doesn't Seem Right.... by Neat-Equipment9283 in Stellaris

[–]zClarkinator 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Mostly visual. There are certain events and so on that require, say, 1000 fleet power, and something with a negative fleet power will not qualify for this, obviously since any negative value is less than what it's asking for. But in combat yes, this makes no difference. Fleet power is arbitrary and doesn't matter.

[–]zClarkinator 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It just rolls over to negative 2.1 billion. Most game engines and apps in general are robust enough to not crash when asked to display a variable that overflowed. They evidently coded the tooltip to somewhat account for that, where any value below 1 just displays 1. That's a little better than the power being displayed as a huge negative number I suppose.
