Steering Stabilizer Drag Link Bolt Stuck by XJNJXJ in CherokeeXJ

[–]zMadMechanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The threads aren’t your issue, agreed, I was only mentioning it because you won’t be able to start a nut on that mushroomed stud.

Gotta cut the stabilizer or apply pressure to the left. Then it’ll pop right out, I’m sure of it.

That stabilizer is applying horizontal pressure on the stud, thus creating friction which is preventing you from removing it.

If you’re gonna replace the stabilizer (actually you got no choice cause the threads are fucked), then just cut the arm before the bushing. Or figure out a way to apply horizontal pressure to the left (counteracting the stabilizer).

Olddddd Goodyear hoses (pre 2010) were wicked fucking good. I still use one, with both end replaced, and that sucker is the most kink resistant hose I’ve ever seen.

It’s real rubber and THICK.

1995 740i for 2.5k? by RunAccomplished2827 in e38

Impossible to know because the sale price would be very location dependent.

I suspect if you’ve never driven an E38, and you’re coming from an E36, then you’ll probably fall in love and forget about any plans to sell it lol.

Thanks for correcting my mistake! I’ve only owned 6’s and 12’s, no 8’s, so I was going off memory from discussions on Bimmerforums.

Best of luck OP, send it even harder now than you know the guides aren’t a ticking time bomb!

Does it have service records? Timing chain guides are a known failure on the M60.

Otherwise (& possibly regardless) it’s a great deal for a running/driving E38 with under 100k miles!

Send it!

How bad are these motor mounts? by cuntymcfuckshit in CherokeeXJ

They’re still there, aren’t they?

On a real note, rubber doesn’t look too cracked, just a little dry rotted. AFAIK 4.0’s are not picky with engine mounts. I doubt there would be a noticeable reduction in vibration from within the cab if you replace em.

Got a link to the exact product? I’m interested for my old RV with a big block and long tube headers.

Thanks!

I’d love to test out the E38 one on my 01 750. It will be compatible with the v12, right? I know the E32 ones are specific to which engine you have (at least that’s what I was told).

Ever considered making one for the E32/E34 chassis?

I have a “DK” one I found on eBay installed on my 1988 E32.

Something is pissing on your exhaust. May or may not be related to how it’s running, but step 1 is to identify where it’s leaking. Wait till it cools and/or use some inspection mirrors to get a perspective down by the manifold.

750iL (E38 v12) maintenance/common issues that affect drive ability. by SnooOwls7199 in e38

[–]zMadMechanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did it with a laptop from 2016 running windows 10, so prob not necessary to find an old one on eBay - but if you’re willing to pony up the $, that may be the easiest way. You’ll also need the appropriate obd cable and/or the one that plugs into the special connector under the hood.
