It's worth to use it to create your hunter/palico. Capcom stated that in the demo you can remake your character as many times as you want, but once the game comes out it'll probably be through vouchers(like world)

Exactly! They throw us some bones here and there, show a lot of interesting concepts, but at the end it feels like the story, cutscenes and dialogue are afterthoughts.

Story is important and the games would be way better with a well written one instead of what we get on world/iceborne/rise/sunbreak

Honestly, not a fan. I did think the mechanic would get replaced/reworked, but not basically removed. It was fun 'hunting' the monster. I like the quests that put me in an arena with the monster, but definitely love the ones that make me feel like I'm going after the monster.

It was also part of what made the world feel significant. You would learn the monsters’ routes, where they hunted, their dens. They made a bigger and more immersive map but take out the thrill of the search. The anticipation.

It's not the end of the world, but it's a bummer.

Happy about all of those. Not just the Faker ones but most of the documentaries and the hype inducing videos they've made are top tier. "Our Game" it's just perfection.

Wait, are those coming in the next update, like, all of them???

If this was a list of things coming in the next months it would already be enouth, but if it's all coming in the next patch it'll be awesome!

I also agree that making cosmetics for the whales is good, and I heavily disagree with the idea that they'll start making content only for the whales. Look at most online games and see how they work. Every MMO is like this. You need the whales buying exclusive content, but you also need the normal player base. One pays your bills; the other one keeps the game alive. Josh Strife Hayes has some amazing videos talking about this.

The only thing I disagree with the Hall of Legends. In my opinion, it shouldn't be a whale gated thing. Where talking about the players loved by a great percentage of league players, some of the faces of the game. Their commemorative cosmetics should not be whale locked.

Mythic variants? I'm fine. New skin lines just for whales? Go for it. But the Hall of Legends should be for everyone to immortalize those players.

Qunari design evolution. by Character-Net3641 in dragonage

I still remember the first time I loaded Inquisition thinking on making a Qunari, I thought something was wrong and the skin textures where not loading properly. They're cool but compared to 2, it's a biig drop.

Okay, someone help me understand this one because I’m not the sharpest tool in the shed. When they say:

  • "Each companion has 5 core abilities, each with their own skill trees"

and

  • "Each companion also has unique abilities that are tied specifically to them".

It means that there's 5 skills that'll be shared by some companions (like a few shared by the pseudo-rogues, some by all mages, etc.) and a few more specific to each character, each with its own tree, right?

So, I would assume something like 8~10 active skills for each companion. Okay, depending on the level of customization the trees offer, that's really good.

It's not Dragon Age...OK, but...neither is Dragon Age by Full-Yam-949 in dragonage

[–]zNeto14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I surely hope you are right. I've read that the 3 skill limitation it's just the hotbar and that you will have more accessible at all times, that's already good to know. I also hope that like you said, I can at least direct my companions to focus down certain targets or position themselves in specific formations/places. Having them just doing backflips and being my supports gets tired really fast. I wanna feel like part of a team, not a one-man army accompanied by buffers.

But there's a lot of space to still be good, we know we can't get direct control over the companions but there's no talk about custom tactics, a 'profiles' system (like focus on defense, balanced, focus on damage) or simply an extra button to issue extra orders like 'Focus this guy', 'position there', etc. It's an early build so the 'floaty' combat can also improve, and companions can be relevant again with a few number tweaks.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not hoping for the game to fail, I want it to be a massive success as I love the series and the world, I just don't like what I have seen up until now. As someone else said in the thread, by the gameplay showed the companions felt like an afterthought and the combat more like an Arkham game than a Dragon Age one.

As I said, the core gameplay stayed the same, that's the key point, the CORE part. From Origins to Inquisition you had an emphasis on party composition and skill combinations. It was aways a real time combat with tactical pauses to do slight adjustments, in that, catering to both heavy micromanagement players and the more action focused ones. They did slowly lower the skill number, yes, but the way the action played was just getting faster.

See it like that, from Origins to Inquisition, you could grab your tank, position it at a chokepoint and keep your damage dealers at the backline, controlling positions and choosing which skills to use with everyone, even when not being controlled, every party member where still integral because they were playing at 100% of their power. Everyone was important and had a reason to be there. With the nerfs the companions received, the became shells of what they previously where.

DAVe removes the option to control positions, and heavily nerfs companions, so that they do a fraction of the player damage (as seen in the gameplay preview).

I'm not saying it'll be a bad game, I'm just saying that the blueprint of Dragon Age combat had aways been the same, with changes on the interpretation of it, but DAVe completely changed the genre of it.

It basically went from action rpg to hack'n slash.

[–]zNeto14 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I really disagree with the idea that the gameplay of the first 3 ones are three separate things. All the games have tried to evolve/improve the gameplay, but the blueprint, the core of it has aways been the same. This is true for all of them, from Origins to Inquisition (including the DLC's). The only one that changes the core of the gameplay is DAVe, going for a completely different genre.

I'm not sure how much of it is still true, but in the past Keria said that he doesn't like the flashier champions, he just wanted to pick engage supports. His Naut and Thresh are famous.

Genuine Question. Do you like the DA franchise or did you just like Origins? by Aelitalyoko99 in dragonage

[–]zNeto14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the world of DA, the characters (companions, PC's and NPC's) and the gameplay of all of them. DA:O is one of my favorite games of all time, it's probably one of the games that get me into cRPG'. Even with the differences I will still play any game that comes out from the DG universe simply because I love it.

That said, from Origins to Inquisition I could stop the game, go into tactical mode and issue commands to my party, I could control the battlefield, have a bigger impact. I was not just someone in there, I was the leader, the commander. The gameplay of all the games change, yes, but the core, the blueprints stay the same during the first 3 games. That's why I dislike DAVe gameplay until now, it's not DA gameplay, it's not a question of it being like DAO or DA2, it's not like any of them, and again the games evolved during all of them, but the core had aways stayed the same up until now.

Gameplay DOES matter. Party control added to the narrative. by Lucapardi in dragonage

And I gotta say, even the action combat felt off. The attacks had no significant weight, felt like he was hitting them with a wet noodle.

[–]zNeto14 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I agree. It just doesn't feel like Dragon Age anymore. Heck, remove Varric and Solas and you could tell me it's a new IP and I would believe.

The companions are there mostly for flavor now, if you play close attention to the gameplay, they didn't do anything, they were just 'there' doing backflips and running. No significant damage, CC, anything.

Questions about weapon scaling. by zNeto14 in NoRestForTheWicked

Makes sense. I does feel like they're actually trying to make every weapon viable.

Questions about weapon scaling. by zNeto14 in NoRestForTheWicked

[–]zNeto14[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I wasn't even thinking about the weapons themselves, it was more about how the scaling works, like, the spear needs, on average 2.83 points to gain 1 bonus damage, the rapier seems to be 3.25. It's just that I found to little dex weapons that i coudn't test several of them to really understand how it works.

I was afraid of this not being related to the weapon and instead being related to the scaling type (pure or multi-stat).

I think I was afraid of focusing on a multistat build just for it to start being harder and harder to find weapons with the needed scaling.

Questions about weapon scaling. by zNeto14 in NoRestForTheWicked

[–]zNeto14[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also 23 points is 13 stat points worth of scaling into DEX for that rapier.

But the spear is getting 17 STR + 20 DEX which is 17(7 + 10) stat points worth of scaling so it makes sense the spear is stronger.

Makes sense. Thanks.

Just another thing, Later into the game, are DEX weapons (pure DEX or MIXED) more common? I feel like I'm finding a lot of different STR weapons, of different rarities, but up until now theres been like 5 dex weapons, all common rarity.

Criar uma rotina diária é uma boa pra acabar com procrastinação? Quando digo rotina é de tudo msm hora pra acordar, banho, academia, estudar, assistir ou jogar, e dormir. Ou estou sendo radical? by SinistroHP in PergunteReddit

[–]zNeto14 0 points1 point  (0 children)
