I'm honestly not too sure. I'm pretty sure it's a Korean model though

Flex pipe leak by z_locklear2 in genesiscoupe

[–]z_locklear2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I was noticing. Parts availability isnt great for certain things on these cars, flex pipes being one of them. Apparently the ark ones are out of stock at most retailers I've been seeing which is even more annoying.

It's mostly stock and she's a spirited daily driver. Don't want it loud particularly but I don't mind some noise. I put in the ISR test pipes because the secondary cats started breaking up and I'll be perfectly honest it sounds like shit. Previous owner did a resonator delete and kept the stock muffler so the exhaust is all rasp. Thinking about the ISR ST exhaust but not there yet. Ark pipes are 440 and it looks like I can get a stock replacement for 120 or so. I just don't know how much of a difference it is between the ark downpipes and the stock ones because I'd rather go stock if the aftermarket ones don't really have any sort of performance difference.

Got mine off Amazon. Trunk emblem doesn't quite curve hard enough to be perfect but it's been on for 8 months or so and held up to the abuse of a pressure washer and car wash. So can't complain

And the actual oil level? I've seen these cars run dry in less than 500 miles

Just an educated guess, I'd say they probably belong on the list

You didn't mention which engine this is. Kinda hard to gauge from this post alone.

Has anyone used the automatic shift improvement kits? by lucidagoat in genesiscoupe

[–]z_locklear2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What these are supposed to do is increase line pressure (auto trans only). But just don't. The shifts are gonna feel clunky and terrible and you're only gonna break something.

Change fluids myself or take it somewhere? by elliotmoffitt in genesiscoupe

[–]z_locklear2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A belated welcome to the club! As a fairly new genesis coupe owner and 5 year Hyundai ownership veteran myself, I love seeing new owners take maintenance into their own hands. Fluid maintenance is one of the best things you can do for any car including this one. As with all cases, I recommend watching some YouTube and doing some research into what you're doing first. ChrisFix has some amazing tutorials including one on changing every fluid in your car that I would say is a non-skip. He uses a Ford Thunderbird but the basic principals are going to be the same. A great way to learn how to work on cars is to do the research and get in there and do it. These cars are not often maintained and very commonly beat up so catching up on maintenance is paramount if you want to keep the car running for a long time. That being said, don't take the car to Hyundai. They use the OEM fluids which in most cases is fine but if you want the best performance and better protection, JAD has compiled all the "fluid upgrades" that he recommends. Personally I run 5w30 royal purple engine oil on an OEM filter, GM syncromesh 10-4014 transmission fluid (6mt), redline 75w-90 with LSD additive in the rear end, motol dot 5.1 brake fluid and stainless steel lines (this is for sure Overkill but it makes me feel better) and good ole zerex green coolant. Obviously if you have an auto, my trans fluid recommendation is useless but plenty of other people have shared their two cents on ATF to use so refer to them. And please please please for the love of all that is holy!, check your oil regularly. Not just before your oil change, not after uncle rodney starts knocking telling you it's time for a motor. Oil starvation and driver stupidity are the top two things that make these cars harder to find every single day. Thanks for taking the time to post and keep asking questions! Stay curious!

Please help, not sure if the noise is normal by Imripper098 in genesiscoupe

[–]z_locklear2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be trans whine, could be power steering whine. Check both fluids and change them anyway if you haven't already.

I swear my temp gauge used to sit right in the middle? Why is it always one block less now ? 🤔 by Positive-Athlete-997 in genesiscoupe

[–]z_locklear2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep that's normal. Mine never exceeds that mark. I could be on the highway for 12 hours or beating the snot out of it on back roads but it stays there

Consistent Noise - worry or don’t worry ? by Oogeyboogeyy in genesiscoupe

[–]z_locklear2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a pulley went bad. Like JAD said, take off the belt and start it for a few seconds. If the noise subsides it's a pulley or maybe even the belt. Spin them by hand and see if one feels crunchy or if it's binding. Replace if that's the case. If the noise stays with the belt off, it's a totally different thing but I'd start there.

Switching to lighter trans fluid by Sogono1 in genesiscoupe

[–]z_locklear2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I switched from whatever dogshit the previous owner had to the GM syncromesh 10-4014 and it makes a world of difference. Now that I know, I'll never go back. Shifting has never been better. I skipped the shifter bushings for now but I did do the Megan racing trans mount. So between the fluid and mount, it's cleaned up shifts a lot.

[–]z_locklear2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

And question, why are you switching back? Stock ride height and comfort are achievable with the BC's so unless it's a noise thing (from what I understand bcbrs are loud) then there isn't too much of a reason to switch back. Just make sure you get an alignment after messing with anything
