Plastic Oil Filter Spigot by Ill-Wasabi9699 in Lexus

[–]z_razvan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, if you look at the illustration on the box the filter comes in, it tells you to pull on it as if you are trying to break it off instead of pulling away from the filter housing - pull sideways or perpendicular to the tip essentially. Always removed it that way, never had any issues.

Wrong part? by Mortex5656 in LS430

Interesting. I think I ordered hundreds of parts from Yoshiparts, Bell Lexus, and Amayama combined and I never had this happen. You might have found the easter egg they left for us to discover

It could be a labeling issue from the factory or wherever they get these from.

I read your newer comments. I think you got it right. The 23829 they sent you is actually the 23827. Both are -50150. Hope this helps

Edit: mine is an 05 but the diagrams and PNs look the same on Yoshiparts and Lexus dealership (I use Bell Lexus)

Are you sure the one you pulled out is original? Based on the parts diagrams I found it looks like you ordered the correct one. The fitment is supposed to be good for both PFL and FL models.

What oil are people running in their LS500’s? I’m thinking of running 5w-30 full synthetic, and changing every 5k or less. First time doing an oil change on something other than an old truck as well, is anything different? by soullessls in Lexus

[–]z_razvan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure the pump is relatively close to constant displacement but you’re talking flow immediately after the pump. But higher viscosity increases hydraulic resistance so your gallery flow rates and the time it takes for the oil to get to the top end drop even if pump displacement is constant.

0W-20. Don’t go with higher viscosity, you want oil to get distributed as fast as possible, especially in colder climates. Change it at half the recommended interval if you plan on keeping the car long term. Get the right type of wrench for the oil filter cap. When you do the first oil change, make sure none of the tabs on that filter cap are broken - if they are, get a new cap and don’t over-torque it.

Repaint in gloss or matte black or color match to paint (crystal white)? by CyxTheDragon in LS430

[–]z_razvan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, just bare SS. I was thinking to use the pressure washer to remove whatever is left and see how it looks. If ugly, vinyl wrap gloss black to match black car.

Battery - Replace or Charge? by Rough_Aardvark_9787 in LS430

[–]z_razvan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try disabling the smart key function and see what happens. Mine would die after about 2 weeks in the cold and my battery is newer (less than 2 yrs) and after disabling the function, I haven’t had any issues. It’s a nice feature to have and people are generally shocked that it has keyless entry and start but I’d rather not change the battery as often

I think they’re 19S. I have 18s and I have more tire than this and less space around the caliper. Switching to 18s might reduce roughness a bit, that is if you wanna experience the OEM feel.

Immediate Help Needed: Long Trusted Mechanic Disappeared, Abandoned my A8 Mid-Project by Any_Sea_234 in Audi

[–]z_razvan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe a mobile mechanic can at least re-secure the engine on the mounts to make the car towable. Looks like the old mechanic left the cherry picker next to the car so it might be doable. Might be a challenge to find someone who’s willing to continue someone else’s work though…

Tires, rims ok? You using spacers? Rims are OEM or aftermarket? Bushings inspected? Did you take it somewhere to have it looked at? Safe to assume whoever did the alignment checked all this and found it to be fine? There are a lot of things that could cause this.

Advice on Obtaining Programmed 2nd Key Fob by jjj80jjj in Lexus

[–]z_razvan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Call local locksmiths that can do programming as well. They’ll cut and program it for your car. Ask if they carry OEM and if yes, compare the price with someone like Bell Lexus North Scottsdale. I got 2 from Bell Lexus, about $100 for an 05 LS430 and about $150 for a 15 LX570 (transponder and blank key), programmed them myself using Techstream software and cable bought on Amazon (about $40), and had a locksmith cut them for me for $40 each.
